Just seen this. I am no medic but I very much doubt that any doctor, anywhere would prescribe a pill for a 3-month-old baby. From my parenting experiences - and I have four kids, Every medication for babies and toddlers, and in fact most medication through to the age of 12, is in liquid or powder (to be added to liquid) form. He is very lucky to still be competing IMO. Bet he didn;t even handle the medication!

Well, I can see the logic seeing as a whereabouts violation is not a failed test. But there’s now an asterisk, obvs.

I suppose it is because it isn't an actual doping offence until you have 3 of them. However, you can have a situation where you have had 2 of them before winning a champs and have your 3rd sometime afterwards and keep the title

Entirely, and depressingly, predictable.

I said at the time that McNeil's "appeal" was nothing more than a delaying tactic and attempt to play the "woe is me" card during the US Trials.

USATF fell for it, hook, line and sinker, and allowed the shameless drug cheat to compete last week, and then take an Olympic team spot away from a thoroughly deserving hurdler, Gabbi Cunningham.... only to get her appeal thrown out and the ban upheld.

Deeply embarrassing for the federation.

The one good thing USATF did do was to use the ninth lane in all of McNeil's races so that the results had an inbuilt 'what if McNeil wasn't there' element.

I understand that at the US Trials, those qualifying for the Olympics by finishing first 3, will often do a lap of honour (or honor!). Cunningham has missed out on that and had about a week and a half of limbo before knowing for sure she was going to Tokyo.

Not here to name names, but I've heard from 2 well placed people this evening that the laboratory has admitted fault for Dustin's positive test result and he will be running in Tokyo.

frankly I'd still be worried about the lads mental health right now, and It's only a matter of time before those rotten American reactionaries start using his name to score points RE Sha'Carri Richardson.

EDIT: Story now up in The Times. The case against Dustin has been dropped by French anti-doping authorities due to "cross contamination". Poor lad, what an awful few weeks he must have had.

I first heard about the Dustin story early yesterday evening. I think it says a lot that it was not being carried at that time by the BBC.

Other than the Times, I'm not sure many other newspapers etc. ran with the Dustin story. I suspect that other journos did a bit of digging and found out about the lab contamination and decided not worth the risk from a legal perspective. These stories should only really become public once the AIU have formally charged an athlete.

Matt Lawton clearly ran the story based on a 'source'. Quite a few people on social media have hinted towards the likely source and my instincts are the same.
