  • Add me to the skeptical side of things re CJ's potential return. I accept he will have served his time and, whatever my personal views, he is entitled to be picked for teams. Them's the rules.

But if I were involved in the relay (either as an athlete or a member of support staff), I wouldn't want him within 500m of me, even if it improved my chance of a medal.

The bottom line is that I just wouldn't trust him enough to be careful about what he does, and with good reason based on this whole situation. At best, he has proven to be, as Kilty says, "sloppy and reckless".

And he's hardly some fresh faced 19 year old

  • Considering how well the 4x100m team did at the Worlds, and especially at the European Championships, with two newbies on-board who more than contributed to their performances, I don't really see much of an avenue back into the reckoning for Ujah anyway.

  • Never could quite get my head round the endless Ujah chat and his abilities that was mentioned here until recently.. Nothing special as an individual world class exponent; in the relays the opening leg did not decide the placing of our guys at the end of the race. Most of GB displays of the past, when screw ups occured, or great runs by legs 2 or 3 runners putting us in with medal chances, had little reference to the lead off guy.

He was very consistent around 10 seconds. World class no, but a great lead off leg. And lest we forget won a diamond league!

  • Another Russian gold medal from London 2012 looks to be going elsewhere, this time it's for the women's 400 hurdles. The new podium would be Lashinda Demus gold, Zuzana Hejnova silver and Kaliese Spencer bronze.

  • It’s weird these cases started to get investigated only now. This should not have happened at all. Aren’t there set procedures to prevent cheating?
UPD. Oh, I didn’t know it was possible to re-test the old samples. I’m not that familiar with the testing process and didn’t think they could keep the samples for so long.
Do you think there might be political causes for such tastings? Sometimes I think they decide to re-test only the athletes whose countries have fallen out of favor.
And are there supplements they are allowed to take? For instance, I take telostene purerawz.co, and it’s considered acceptable for amateur powerlifters. But what about professional athletes who participate in the Olympic games?

    • Not a great surprise that another Turkish transferee tests positive. Doesn’t give you great hope for the likes of Yasemin Can

Hmm, seems like his EPO only worked in December because in recent years the European XC Champs is literally the only time he ran well !

      • If you thought Blessing Okagbare's ban was quite long (if thoroughly deserved), what about a 36 year ban? Italy's Alessandro Bracconi (no, never heard of him) is the subject of a 12 year ban from WA and an additional 26 from Italian Athletics. Combo of positive test, possession, trafficking and competing when suspended.

Bracconi, it seems, is mainly a trail runner with a best road half marathon of only 1:19. The good news for him is that he'll be back in time for the Under 75 World Masters Championships.

              Yikes.

She's just about destroyed ANY sympathy she might have garnered from her struggles earlier in her career... And re-opens a lot of the doubts that were aimed at Chand back then too.

              • Looks like the hugely impressive 2022 form for Peter Bol had a reason after all....

Read the article more carefully... It's Bol himself who says he is cleared, not the Sports Integrity Australia. He's able to compete for now, but the SIA have said that the B sample produced an "atypical finding". Bol is still under investigation. There's lots of bluster, righteous indignation and protestations of innocence on the part of Bol, his trainer, his lawyer and even the Western Australian Sports Minister, who have all weighed in on this situation.

But until we know the full results of this investigation, Bol is still going to have many questions to answer... and there's the real possibility that further analysis of the B sample will turn up some bad news for him. So let's how this plays out.

              • Not sure where to post it but did anyone else see the video in YouTube of our favourite drug taker Shacari Richardson being chucked off a plane, and giving it the whole "I'm a superstar and your just a regular Joe" speech. She's awful.

A disgrace to the sport. Should be boycotted by promoters and other athletes.
