  • 2023 UK outdoor results - September

20.94 for Scott Lincoln in Germany yesterday after 20.99 a few days ago (I know that was in August).

Jack Rowe took almost a minute off his HM PB with 61.08 to win the Big Half ahead of Mahamed Mahamed, Andy Butchart and Mo Farah on his final tour.

Minute, surely? Good win though, he needs to find 13 seconds over 5000m for Paris next year (because of the stupid UKA qualification rules).

Well, let's see. Who knows if the current regime will even still be in charge.

It's good to see Glave setting consistent 10.0x times but I wish he would race abroad at some Continental Silver or bronze meetings. Very different challenge racing abroad against international opposition rather than against domestic fields at home.

I like that he races domestically and sets fast times. British athletes don’t do it enough (largely because of the lack of opportunities granted). That he can run and be pushed by others running 10.1X is good for raising the standard of domestic meets

the all knowing one has missed a PB by Walcott- Nolan in Padova today of 4.4.76. well done to her.

Also in Padua, Archie Davis took a second or so off his PB too, now 3.36.76.

And Scott Lincoln threw 21.10 which is getting pretty close to his PB.

Why couldn't he do that in Budapest though...! The meet before Budapest he went 20.83m. Since then he's done 20.99m, 20.94m and 21.10m. Any of those 4 would have made the final.

Morning qualifying, extra pressure, 3 attempts…..

WC are a different beast, but on the face of it, definitely frustrating though.

Yup, excellent running, although she seems to have got her peak wrong this year.

At the Big Half in London the top 3 in each race booked their spot on the team for the World Road Running Championships in 4 weeks' time (should they want to run there). We can enter 4 per team max.

              1 Jack Rowe 61:08 PB
              2 Mahamed Mahamed 61:16 PB
3 Andy Butchart 62:15 PB - some doubt about whether he'll run in Latvia since he's making his marathon debut soon in New York

If Butchart turns down his spot, Jonny Mellor was 5th here (behind Sir Mo) and he also has the WA standard.

              1 Calli Thackery 69:15
              2 Rose Harvey 70:02 PB
              3 Abbie Donnelly 70:31 PB

The trials for the 5km & Road Mile teams at those same World Championships are part of the Great North weekend, this coming Friday.

But also is it too late to get to grips with the steeplechase? I think we need to get them young!

I don't think she ever did. Was an 800m runner, then went to Tokyo over 1500m and has PBed over both distances this year.

Holly Bradshaw has been added to the field for this evening's Pole Vault in the Square in Italy, live streaming on YouTube (see the LSL thread.)
