Hmm... The first time that Dina Asher Smith will have raced Sha'Carri over 100m since she beat her in that freezing cold, rain-sodden Diamond League in Gateshead 2021. With Richardson having run that gust-added 10.57 a couple of weeks ago, we get to see if that was a one-off or whether the loud mouthed one will actually back up her self-promoted hype for a change.-
I was thinking the other day ... What if athletics promoted itself like boxing, for example, with every top athlete having a nickname? (Strange what passes through your (my) head).
SR might be Sha'Carri "The Motormouth" Richardson ...Last edited by LuckySpikes; 02-05-23, 11:48.

A great quality meet in prospect at such an early date
The events are well represented and looking at each event record at this meet over the years it's quite remarkable the standard achieved at early May.

10.98 is a nice start for DAS.
Shacarri Richardson looks as if she may be taking things more seriously this year. She looks more toned down and that was a great performance.

Irritating as Richardson is, that was an impressive final 40. She looks like a different athlete.Comment

It was a great start to the season by Dina, but I don't see her featuring in the World's if SR keeps up this form and with SAFP, Shericka and Elaine.

It's faster than she's ever previously run this early in the season, which is a promising sign, although a new PB will almost certainly be required for her to get a medal in Budapest (and still might not be enough given the competition).
I'm not convinced ETH will be a factor this year.Comment

Agree re ETH - either injured or a very weird build up.
DAS - normally opens with a 200m, so 100m later in the season, and this is still her fastest opener. She normally drops about 4/10 over 200m through the season, so a 10.7 by Budapest isn’t a crazy thought. Whether that will be enough to take out enough of SAFP, SJ, ETH, SCR, (not forgetting people like Alfred and Hobbs) for a medal remains to be seen, but she’s certainly a contender. I hope her 200m is ready - I’d like to see a 21.7 this year at least👍 2Comment
