Euro u18 champion Charlotte Henrich, now an u20, dropped down to 200 at the Kent champs and ran a pb 24.44.Comment

1.46.18 PB for Ethan Hussey in Ireland, in a confident front running performance, holding off a fast finishing Archie Davis.Comment
-
Ethan Hussey comes out on top in the 800m in Belfast in 1:46:18 I think. Totally dominant performance from him. Surreal moment of the day was Ronnie O'Sullivan joining the commentary team.Comment

Was that sub 2 by Abigail Ives and Isobelle Boffey in 2nd and 3rd in Belfast today. Looked it at the finish, winning time 1:59:50 Ives progess continues apace.Comment
-
It was a nice competitive race but I didn't catch the times for Ives or Boffey. -
Loop-guru, You were quicker than Ian Hodge! Who writes ... Abigail ives,19, improves her 800m best from 2:01.56 to 1:59.92 today in Belfast- just the fourth GB u20 to run sub two mins for the distance

Some results coming through from a bunch of county track & field championships, including Essex, Wiltshire and Berkshire, that are taking place this weekend.
Wiltshire County T&F Champs
Men's U20 Hammer (6kg)
1. Owen Merritt - 67.03m
2. Harry Rickets - 64.19m
Men's 110m Hurdles final (106.7cm)
Charlie Staddon (U20) - 14.37 (NWI) Just 3 days after setting a lifetime time best over the U18 height hurdles in Birmingham, Staddon follows up with an impressive time over the senior hurdles, the first time he's ever raced over them.
Essex County T&F Champs
Men's U20 High Jump final
1. Jacob Walecki - 2.05m
Women's 100m Hurdles final (U20 & Sen height)
2. Paris King (U20) - 14.68 (NWI) Would have been another PB for the first year U20 athlete but for the lack of wind reading.
Men's U20 110m Hurdles final (99.1cm)
1. Noah Hanson - 13.92 (NWI) Hanson has been very unlucky so far in this early outdoor season. Denied PBs in races over the U18 and U20 height hurdles due to excessive winds - the latter being his first ever race over them - the first year U20 athlete was yet again prevented from logging a time that could be used for qualifying status or record purposes, this time due to no wind reading being available. Even so, that the 17 year old is already running sub-14 seconds over these barriers in just his 2nd race over them, bodes well for the rest of the summer.
2. Ruben Hedman - 14.11 The 18 year old was denied a PB also.
Men's U17 High Jump final
1. Sam Wright (U17) - 1.93m The start of a couple of days work for the England U17 high and long jump champion indoors during the winter, as well as the U17 indoor pentathlon champion too, who also competed in the U17 shot put today (which he also won with 12.24m, an outdoor PB) and is scheduled to be in the long jump on Sunday.
Men's 100m Hurdles final (91.4cm)
1. Sam Wright - 13.48 (+1.3) (I'm finally able to get this result on here. Roster app was really slow updating this race). A near half second improvement over the 100m hurdles for Wright... should be interesting what he'll do over the official 110m length of race.Last edited by RunUnlimited; 17-05-23, 11:08.👍 1Comment

50.85 pb for u23 George Seer over 400h at the Kent champs. Then in the u17 event, Rayhan Mourtada who I noted yesterday managed an even more impressive pb of 54.69, with Cheyne West second in a pb 54.70. Rayhan is coached by John Blackie.Comment

Seems like Thea Brown is targeting the U18s, but if not, the U17G heptathlon could be one of the strongest seasons ever, with Brown, Snell, Wilson, Kidd and a few others at the top of their age group👍 1Comment

Day 2 (or 3 in a couple of them) of the various County T&F Championships going on this weekend, with some prominent U20 and U18 athletes competing.
Essex County T&F Champs - Day 2 results
Women's U17 High Jump final
1. Ruby Tillson - 1.73m PB Tillson who represents the London Borough of Havering (my home borough btw), is another promising young heptathlete who has set a bunch of PBs already this year both indoors and outdoors And she did so again this morning in the high jump. This was her first time ever going beyond 1.70m in competition and she achieved it at the first attempt too. It's just 1cm shy of the EA Q standard for the Commonwealth Youth Games.
Women's 400m Hurdles final
1. Stephanie Okoro - 1:00.89 SB
Men's U17 Javelin final (700g)
1. Bobby Williams - 63.50m PB (CWYG Q = 67.00m)
Men's U17 Long Jump final
1. Sam Wright - 7.18m (NWI) Cannot be used for record or qualification purposes with no wind reading, other wise this would have qualified Wright for the CWYG individual long jump and an outright PB too.
Men's U20 200m final
1. Noah Hanson - 21.81 PB (+2.0) After a 13.92 (NWI) 110m Hurdles victory on Saturday, Hanson followed up with a wind-legal PB over 200m on Sunday.
North Eastern Counties AA T&F Champs 2023 | May 13 - May 14th
Women's U20 200m final
1. Joy Eze - 24.57 (-2.2) The 2022 World U20 100m semi finalist and 2021 European U20 100m bronze medallist Eze opened her season yesterday with victory over the longer 200m distance, though her time was no doubt hampered by the stiff headwinds that affected sprinters at the Middlesbrough Sports Village. Eze, who turns 19 later this month, will be back on track for her better event, the 100m, today.
Women's U20 100m final
1. Joy Eze - 12.04 (-0.6)
Humber & Lincolnshire County Championships 2023 | May 13 - May 14th
Women's U17 100m final
1. Mabel Akande - 11.73 (+1.2) 16 year old Akande logs her second fastest 100m time and is once again well below the qualifying standard for the Commonwealth Youth Games.
Women's U20 and Veteran final
Ella Greenway (U20) - 4:22.52 The 18 year old running for Cleethorpes in her first outdoor track appearance this season, and who came 4th at last year's European U18s over 800m, took nearly 7 seconds off her lifetime best over 1500m, improving on a 4:29.00 she ran in 2019 as an U15 athlete. She won the race by nearly a full minute, but just missed out on the European U20 Q standard by .52.
Buckinghamshire AA T&F Championships 2023 | May 13 - May 14th
Women's Javelin final (500g)
1. Ayesha Jones (U17) - 48.54m Jones for the second time this year surpasses the 48.00m CWYG Q distance as she won the javelin on Saturday and is well on the way to representing England at those championships in Trinidad & Tobago, following on from getting her debut international vest for GB at last year's European U18s when she was just 15 years old. She is still currently 10th in the world among U18 athletes this year with her 49.81m at Loughborough in February.
Women's Long Jump final (U17, U20)
1. Chisom Nwafor (U20) - 5.85m (NWI) After her recent spate of PBs, including the long jump 2 weeks ago, Nwafor won the long jump contest here a little bit down on that 6.08m effort. She was also set to compete in the high jump on Sunday, but was a DNS in that. Hopefully she's ok.
Cheshire County T&F Championships 2023 | May 13 - May 14th
Women's 400m final (U20 & Senior)
1. Ashley Nemits (U20) - 54.08 PB Nemits had already made great strides this year after lowering her lifetime best by over a second during the two days of competition at the EA U20/U17 & U15 Indoor Champs in February, setting what was at the time the 9th fastest 400m run by a UK U20 (soon to be surpassed a week later by Rebecca Grieve and Emily Newnham) with 54.17 when she was still 18. Now 19 years old, Nemits' first outdoor appearance of the season was to lower that PB to 54.08 on Saturday. That's under the European U20 Q standard (as was her run in February) and she is looking good to further lower the times as the summer progresses.
Women's Javelin final (U17, U20 & Senior)
1. Harriet Wheeler (U20) - 47.21m PB A new personal best by over 2 and half meters, the first year U17 athlete just missed the CWYG Q standard of 48.00m.
Women's 200m final (U20)
1. Emma Holmes - 24.79 (+1.4) Outdoor PB (ran 24.63 indoors in January), not far off the Commonwealth Youth Games standard of 24.30.
Women's 100m Hurdles final (U20)
1. Meg Corker - 14.47 (-1.8)
Berkshire County T&F Championships 2023 | May 13 - May 14th
Women's Hammer final (4kg)
1. Charlotte Payne (U23) - 68.62m
Men's Long Jump final (U20)
1. Sammy Ball 6.83m (NWI)
Men's Discus Final (U20 - 1.75kg)
3. Sammy Ball 36.83m SB
Men's Javelin final (U20 - 800g)
3. Sammy Ball - 48.50m PB. Overall a very good weekend's work for the very promising decathlete, especially the PB in the javelin.Last edited by RunUnlimited; 18-05-23, 13:20.👍 1Comment
