Impressive, definitely one to watch internationally next year. -
Oh, wow!
Just working my way through the streams of the Japanese University Team Championships in Kumagaya. I've watched every race so far, heats, semis and all (except Decathlon races)!
In the Men's 110m Hurdles final yesterday ... 21yo Rachid Muratake equalled the Japanese NR, 13.04 (-0.5). You knew he was kind of special when he ran his previous PB, 13.18, in his first race back in late July after injury. He didn't go to Budapest though because he was injured when the Japanese Championships took place.
You can watch the race at https://youtu.be/fnoJqVwP9Q0?t=17434 (timestamped) - he's in Lane 6. That's him in shot when the video starts.👍 1Leave a comment:

Sorted! Someone on the T&FN forum spotted that the quotas apply only to reimbursement for travel and accommodation. -
Final entry lists are out for the inaugural World Road Running Championships on 1st October - https://worldathletics.org/news/pres...d-wrrc-riga-23
I'm confused though by the large entry lists for the Mile and 5km when it says in WA's document that there were quotas of 12 and 20 athletes per race respectively.
On the timetable there's no sign of them having heats - https://worldathletics.org/competiti...ga23/programme
Does anyone know what's going on?Leave a comment:

The fields for 10th September's 5th Avenue Mile are looking very nice (the Women's race more international than ever?) and it looks like there'll be a free live stream again with no geo-blocking.
Highlights of the fields (in no particular order):
Women - Melissa C-B, Laura Galvan (MEX), Sarah Healy, Nikki Hiltz, Jess Hull, Emily Mackay, Jemma Reekie, Gaia Sabbatini, Katie Snowden, Elle St. Pierre, Adelle Tracey and, never one to miss out on a racing opportunity, Nozomi Tanaka
Men - Geordie Beamish, Elliot Giles, Azzedine Habz, Josh Kerr, Woody Kincaid, George Mills, Charles Philibert-Thiboutot (CAN), Cooper Teare, James West

There's an actual Italian NR to report, not a figment of my imagination this time ...
At last night'sSalto con l'Asta in Piazza women's pole vault comp in Chiari, Roberta Bruni added 1cm to her NR with 4.73 on the 3rd attempt.
On what they're (maybe) already calling the "Greatest night in Italian pole vaulting history", Elisa Molinarolo added 3cm to her PB with 4.68 and Virginia Scardanzan jumped a 10cm PB with 4.45.
Holly B was 3rd with 4.53.
It looks like a cool event with a large crowd and the (clock?) tower lit up in the colours of the Tricolore. I imagine there's a little bar somewhere in that square where spectators can get some liquid refreshment.👍 1Leave a comment:

But then you're not looking for something to be annoyed by... -
47.92 from Vaillant was only good enough for third in Bellinzona, that time would have won him global titles in the not too distant past.Leave a comment:

The man using two different accounts from different devices probably shouldn't be complaining about confusion...
Also, broadly, UK results are going in the UK thread and others on the 2023 thread. It's never felt overly complex to me.Leave a comment:
