Wow, I hadn't seen that yet! I knew he ran a 12.x time with a huge tailwind before.

Impressive! Rounded down to 12.96 actually, and Ojora to a pb 13.26.

Has anyone noted worlds lead this year for Cordell Tinch, NCAA division 2 champion in a legal 12.97. From almost nowhere. Second was Ojora in 13.28

One thing to do it at this time of year in the US or Caribbean, quite another to do it at the pointy end of the season. Nonetheless worth noting that Jamaica (population 3m) has 3 68m discus men.

Interesting enough (to me) in itself, but the really interesting point is that 2 of those are also 20m shot putters.

Is there are a tendency to specialise too early for some of our heavy throwers? Post Myerscough I can’t think of many who have had a decent PB in more than one event. Percy had a 67m hammer quite young before settling on the disc. Other than that?

Lincoln’s 37m disc best dates back over a decade to his teenage days while I can’t see a SP mark for Okoye at all. Ikeji has a 39m disc to his credit this year.

There were fast 100s at Saturday's International Athletics Meeting Anhalt in Dessau (GER), a Conti Tour Bronze meeting ...

In the Women's heats Luxembourg's Patrizia van der Weken came so close to breaking the 11 second barrier - 11.02 (+1.3), the umpteenth NR she's set this year. She started the year with her NR at 11.29. In another heat Gina Luckenkemper ran 10.98 (+2.3). She won the final in 11.04 (0.0) over van der Weken, 11.10.

Patrizia van der Weken is running again tomorrow in the 2nd Division of the European Team Championships.

In the Men's Dominik Kopec (POL) came into the meeting with a 10.20 PB and left it with a 10.05 (+0.1) PB after also running 10.06 in the heats! Suddenly Marian Woronin's 1984 NR of 10.00 comes into view. ...

At yesterday's Track Night Vienna, another On Running event ...

In the Women's 5000 'A' race both 19yo Yalemgat Yaregal (ETH), 14:51.14, and Francine Niyomukunzi (BDI), 14:53.02, got the Budapest standard. Niyomukunzi is a regular on the World Cross Country Tour.
Ludovica Cavalli (ITA) ran her first 5000 since she's "got good" and it was a nice run, 15:08.96. In 7th Cristina Ruiz (ESP), another mainstay of the World XC Tour, improved her PB by 8.5s to run 15:25.11. Then, just behind her, Valentina Gemetto (ITA) had a huge run breaking her PB by 33s with 15:25.30 (although that wasn't a huge surprise). She had her breakthrough on the country this past winter. Calli Thackery and Verity Ockenden ran 15:28 and 15:30 respectively.

In the Men's race Paul Chelimo outkicked Egide Ntakarutimana to win in 13:03.12. The Burundian's 13:03.61 was a 3s PB. In 5th place, the relatively unknown 22yo Shoto Nakano (JPN) ran a huge 13:24.11 PB, very closely followed by compatriot Yohei Ikeda improving his PB by 7s with 13:24.14. Ikeda is also a 2:06:53 marathoner and will be representing Japan at October's Asian Games over that distance.

Placing second in the Women's Steeplechase 21yo Olivia Gurth (GER) chopped more time off her PB, this time 11s, to run 9:29.99. She is the European U20 champion and this event is shaping up nicely for the Euro U23s what with 20yo Marta Serrano (ESP) having recently run 9:27.07 and the Lithuanian Greta Karinauskaite running 9:26.88 in the NCAA. All of a sudden Elise Thorner is no longer a medal favourite if those 3 others run.

Addy Townsend (CAN) won the Women's 800 'A' race in 2:02.40, closely followed by Cristina Daniela Balan (ROM), 2:02.48 PB. Balan has improved her PB by 1.5s in the past week, firstly when 3rd in Kladno and then last night. Inbetween she also won at the Challenger meeting in Graz on Friday. It would be nice if she could improve a bit more to give Claudia Bobocea a bit of a push.

Randolph & Learmonth were 5th & 8th in the Men's race, north of 1:46-flat. 20yo Koitatoi Kidali (KEN) won in 1:45.25, just outside his PB.

There was a British winner on the night, Will Battershill in the Steeple with a 3.4s PB in 8:23.31. Italy's Yassin Bouih also ran a PB in 2nd, 8:24.95.

    67.23 from Alekna.

No, not that one, nor even that one.

A breakthrough from older brother Martynas. Still only 22 and has backed it up with 3 other comps over 64m. Before this year his best was 60.19.

Puts him 11th in the world rankings and is a WC qualifying standard.

What a family. Guess we’d better agree that the plural is Alaknae.

Yes, Laros looks like a super prospect.

Hmm, the commie must have been referring to Werro setting the World U20 best, because Chemusto is much older than i thought at 24yo.

The story of the revived Meeting Nikaïa in Nice, a Conti Tour Bronze meeting, must be Niels Laros in the 1500 ...

The 18yo Dutch lad smashed his PB by 5.5s to run 3:32.89, tying the Dutch senior NR and going # 2 on the all-time European U20 list behind a certain Jakob I. Laros only turned 18 two months ago.

It was a fast race all round, Andrew Coscoran winning in 3:32.70, an Irish NR, and all but one of the first 9 ran a PB. Six finished inside the Budapest standard including Adrian Ben (ESP), 3:34.35. Thomas Keen was 14th in 3:38.56.

Hilary Kpatcha (FRA) jumped a last round 6.79 (+1.1) to pip Jaz Sawyers by 1cm, Jaz also saving her best jump until the last round. Vuleta 3rd with 6.72.

Janat Chemusto (UGA) won the 1000 in 2:34.35 from Audrey Werro, 2:34.89. Apparently, according to the commentator, a World U20 Record for Chemusto which surprised me. I know it's not frequently run but I would have thought some Ethiopian 18yo 1500m prodigy would have run 2:32/33 before.

In the Women's 5000 Amy-Eloise Markovc fell off the pace again, 4th in 15:28.66. Judith Kiyeng won in 15:15.39 with Mariana Machado 3rd in 15:19.76.

Conseslus Kipruto toyed with the field in the Steeple, winning in 8:17.16 from Isaac Updike PB and in 3rd Geordie Beamish (NZL), 8:17.93 PB. Zak Seddon DNF.

Irene Sanchez-Escribano won the Women's equivalent in 9:35.13.
