Jeremiah Azu equals his season's best over in the Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava, winning the 2nd heat in 6.60, just ahead of Reyniar Mena (CUB) 6.62. However, Charles Dobson's 2023 got off to a rough start as he could only finish 5th in the opening heat, crossing the line in a sub-par 6.74. Hopefully for him just a case of blowing the cobwebs out after winter training.

Azu will be back later to contest the final, hopefully to add another win and to break 6.6 seconds.

Azu won the 60m final in 6.58, placing as the 2nd fastest time by a European so far this year and joint 5th in the world. A good start to 2023 for the Welshman.

While Karsten Warholm stormed to one of the fastest indoor 400m times by a European in his home event in Ultsteinvik, Norway with victory in 45.31, there were rather less impressive runs from the two British representatives in that race. Joe Briar was 4th in 47.19 while veteran Rabah Yousif was dead last in 48.99,

At the same meeting, Aimee Pratt was 2nd in the 1500m, running 4:18.09, Andrew Morgan Harrison was 2nd in the 200m in 21.44, and Samuel Khogali jumped 7.31m in the long jump, also coming in 2nd place.

Very good run by Guy Learmonth in Erfurt to win in 1:46.36 - an indoor PB by 0.1s and inside the Istanbul standard of 1:46.75 - reward for following an aggressive pace (around 51s at 400). George Mills was never really on the pace but came through for 2nd in 1:47.30.

In other results from that meeting, Julian Wagner won the 60 in 6.56, Cari Hughes won the 1500 in 4:15.46 and Malaika Mihambo won the 60 in 7.35.

At the Miramas Metropole meeting in France, Miguel Perera won the 'B' final of the men's 60m hurdles in a new PB of 7.83. Emma Nwafor in the women's equivalent set a season's best of 8.46. Ojie Edoburun (6.68) and Oliver Bromby (6.71) meanwhile were mere spectators in the men's 60m final, well down on Cote D' Ivorie's Arthur Cisse, who set a new PB and MR of 6.57 to defeat Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala, who set a new NR with 6.60.

Josh Faulds set a new indoor 400m PB of 47.99 in coming 3rd and last in the 'A' final, and David Locke also came last in the men's 800m, crossing the finish line in 1:51.92.

Alex George came 11th in the 3000m, clocking 8:01.15.

2.08 indoor pbs for u20s Luke Ball and Ethan Glyde. Glyde won the u18 comp by 21cm and Ball was second in the u20 (I think).

1.74 indoor pb for Halle Ferguson, and the same height for Gabrielle Garber in the women's u20, Halle wining the comp on countback.
