Good run from Isabelle Boffey to win the 800m, 2:02.70.

Apparently a stadium record from Boffey too.

6.68 for young Odamtten n a clear win. What happened to Prescod/why did he not show up for the final? I zoned out of Jenny's chat...

He pulled out of the final but with no official reason for it. In the final itself Odamtten won well but mainly because Robertson appeared to pull up before the line. Great victory for the 18 year old though, who has started this year very well indeed.

I love her as an athlete and person, but Jenny's commentary is painful. Not sure I could butcher names that badly if I tried.

I think she must be dyslexic. Pronouncing a name 3 or 4 different ways within a couple of minutes is quite symptomatic of that - like she's seeing the name for the very first time every time she reads it.

Having said that, World Athletics, British Athletics and any other federation thinking of employing her should be holding their commentators to higher standards. As it is, her commentary is a bit embarrassing for the sport. I find it hard to believe that no-one at WA or British Athletics has noticed how she struggles?

Jenny is not new to commentary now. Nobody is perfect and even the most experienced commentators will make mistakes.

I think it's right that new commentators and voices are tried and you need to give them time to grow into the role and find their voice so to speak.

But if there is no improvement after a certain amount of time then time to move on and try someone else.

Safe to say our Keely's been working on her speed. 1.23 WB on her season debut. Can we dream of a 1.54 this summer?

Well done Keely! Not only smashing Jenny's UK record but running the fastest indoor 600 ever, 1:23.41 !

Superb from Keely. She's setting herself up brilliantly for the year.

It turns out that streaming for the good Challenger meeting in Sabadell, Spain is not geo-blocked. Just started broadcasting now at https://www.ccma.cat/video/embed/oca1/

I'd like to have seen Boffey in that 600m. She would have got a quick time and a lot more confidence than running a 2.03.

I'm pretty sure I did see her in it.
She got a good competitive win today. And she might well get an even better win next week.

She paced it. Did she finish?

No, LOL, I don't think she finished. Just my little joke. (A new season. A very old sense of humour.)

But I thought Mu was supposed to be the 400/800 specialist!? Oh wait, I see she is quite good - 2nd best all time before today. Before today.

Hmm, potentially a repeat of the WJR swap a couple of years ago.

Will be interesting to see whether Mu’s prodigy-level times/progression level off quicker than KH, or if the two of them spur each other to new levels

"I expected to break the world record." And you can tell by the look in her eye that she means it.

Once again this year, it might take a world record to win the major. And KH's team will set her up accordingly. Glorious.

Matt Stonier continues to impress. In his first ever 3000m race, indoors or outdoors, he comes 2nd in around 7:51

51.02 Scottish 400 Record for Nicole Yeargin over in the US. Abby Steiner looked sublime in winning the race in 50.59.

Well, this is very welcome news! Bennett is still just 21 (turns 22 on Feb 2) and 7.84 puts him just outside the UK 20 all time for 60m hurdles as an U23. There is still plenty of that talent he showed back in 2018 in his body. Now the question is whether that body can hold up this time around. Here's hoping that he does.

Some great news - Sam Bennett is back hurdling for the first time since March 2020, and he has set a massive PB! 7.84 for a Harvard school record over in the US. Left in the blocks but came through extremely impressively - Colin would definitely be calling it silky smooth.
