Zharnel Hughes goes 3rd all time behind Dwain Chambers and Linford Christie in the 60m with 6.45 coming third in the Gibson McCook Relays in Jamaica after running 6.52 in the heats for his debut at this distance.

Yes.  She'd stagnated a bit last year, but this is not merely return to form but progression.

Ian Hdge reports a 50.68 for Amber Anning. An outright PB by almost a full second.

That time from Anning puts her up to 3rd on the UK indoor 400m all time list, and indeed, she is the 11th fastest Brit ever over 400m overall. She is some talent.

With the busy day of athletics action, between the Birmingham World Indoor Tour Final and the BUCS Indoor Champs, it was easy to miss that the UKA Indoor Championships - Combined Events was taking place in Birmingham as well after the World Indoor Tour had finished.

In the women's pentathlon, Lauren Evans became the 4th British multi eventer to go beyond 4000 points, getting a PB total of 4043, a 23 point improvement by the 22 year old.

Behind her in 3rd, U20 Seren Rodgers added nearly 300 points to her previous pentathlon points best, scoring 3935, aided in the most part by a substantial 60mH lifetime best 8.64, an over 2/10ths improvement.

Laura’s only run three races this year, including today - it does seem she and Keely have been everywhere, but I think it’s more the press know those two are names the public are aware of and have promoted them more. She has certainly been around for quite some time and the depth is increasing, but I wouldn’t write her off just yet.

For now - Laura, Keely, Neil, Daryll all look like solid gold/silver medal contenders after today - with the likes of Prescod, Boffey, Snowden, Courtney-Bryant, Lake and the men’s 4x4 as our other likely medal chances. Not sure where that would leave us against historic hauls, but looks good for the team that’s going

i am going into prediction territory and state that Gourley, who has stuck to his guns admirably in the last few years, will not make the final in August. If i am wrong somebody will, no doubt, remind me.
Laura has run a lot already both here and in the States and she is no spring chicken. A main reason, in my opinion, she ran so well last year was she was forced to rest up during indoors, in the late winter and spring, due to her back injury. It is reasonable to expect her as fave to win the Europeans, but some of the Africans have not yet come out to play fully, so far.

Gourley a contender for most improved British athlete of the indoors season. He’s going to give Jakob a real run for his money in Istanbul.

Absolutely no reason why he can’t translate this to the outdoor season save for injury. He’s an experienced guy. And GB gets 4 in the mens 1500m with Wightman there as defending champ don’t forget.

I think the general point is valid but I think those two (Laura and Keely) are bad examples - both have shown they can manage two peaks well. Gourley - we’ll find out in Budapest, if he makes the team! The British middle distance squads will be tough to get into this summer.

On today - frustration for Boffey, just missing out on breaking 2 mins, having had to navigate a lot of traffic

All good fun the indoors around the gold meets of the last month, especially with the super shoes, and pace makers and, wavelights but I am very mindful of the WC being 6 months away. Gourleys great form means little to me right now.I believe Muir and Hodgkinson are easily tops in Europe for this winter season but I wonder how easy it is to keep going for the outdoors.

Yep... She is head and shoulders above the rest of the world currently over 800m indoors. Yarigo and Bisset were well beaten by Hodgkinson today in that race. What we *really* want to see is her matched up with Mu.
