A new 60m NR for Dina Asher Smith as she wins the 60m final in Karlsruhe in 7.04!

That performance moves her up to =9th on the European 60m all time list, and into =31st on the world all time list.

However, as she explained in her pre-race interview yesterday, DAS will *not* be contesting the European Indoors in Istanbul this March. Her focus is fully set upon the World Championships in Budapest in August.

All you can hope for DAS is for her to stay fit and healthy this year, and then she will be well up with the worlds best.

Surely Dina will reconsider the Euro indoors now? Been a while since she won a title and she hasn’t won the Euro indoors. The World’s are in August, surely an indoor campaign won’t derail that…

She seemed pretty adamant that the European Indoors were not in her plans, regardless of how well she ran in Karlsruhe and the rest of the indoor season.

"I'm 99% sure I won't do the Euro Indoors this year. I'm not an indoor champs kind of girl. I want to get some PBs as they are so old now. All eyes on Budapest for me."

The direct quote from the AW Twitter page yesterday.

Surely thats her decision and i applaud it; busy, effective, rewarding indoor seasons frequently lead to disappointment months later, outdoors. Hope she has better health this year than earlier occasions.

I kinda understand it but also two indoor 60s really shouldn't be make or break in terms of health...

But what this does prove is she is absolutely at her peak (as I said last year, she was only sadly derailed by injury).

You’re right - it is her decision. Doesn’t mean the fans can’t be hoping that she does go for it. Plenty of cases where a good indoor season leads to an ever better outdoor one. But you know that too, of course

without significant knowledge of the state of the physical condition of Reekie and AHW, observation about end of January performances by them seem pretty pointless.
            Nice performance by Mills.

you are probably right , im hopefull that both will round in decent form. id had hoped for a better run from reekie, but she just looked the same as last season, absolutely dying in the last 100, something that didnt happen before last year and her illness

7:31i for Sam Atkin in the US, breaking Mo Farah'd British record! Now he has a history of running fast times then doing nothing in Champs... but it's better to run fats times than not! Great run!

As with Marc Scott we hope and pray that Atkin can continue these great performances into the outdoor season and stay healthy. An amazing talent that is overdue a statement performance in a major champs

Jacob Fincham-Dukes, so unlucky last year to not pick up a deserved medal in the European Championships long jump final, opens his season with 7.83m effort for victory at the Texas Tech Open. That takes him top of the UK standings so far this year.

Will we see him go beyond 8 meters more consistently this year, and perhaps even get close to that windy 8.45m he performed in 2022?

He hasn't gone beyond 8.00 wind legal ever outdoors.
26 year old athlete. No sign he is getting any faster. One outdoor mark of 8.00 +2.0 Austin TX where wind readings so often look dubious. 8.45m probably in a gale.

I see Sophie McKinna has abandoned her flirtation with rotation. Probably wise.

Or is it Sophie McKenna ? Daughter, perhaps, of famed hypnotist Paul ?

I had more than enough of Jenny on the Karlsruhe stream!

Ah, the next-to-useless head-on camera angle for the Triple Jump on the live stream in Manchester! Do these people not think at all?!

Aha, well done to the genius who finally worked out how to show the TJ from side-on !

              Andy Robertson - 6.65 Heat 1

Reece Prescod - 6.60 UK Lead and EIC Q time - Heat 2

Impressive run from Prescod, a very easy looking 6.60.

I want to know what time Medwin Odamtten managed behind him as the 18 year old didn't look far off his 6.67 PB from a couple of weeks ago.

6.79. Jenny mangling the poor lad's name as usual.

A commanding win from Izzy Boffey. Lynsey Sharp faded badly.

I got distracted at the start by the sight of an official's cute assistance dog.
