John acquitted herself well there, in what was Cali aside her fastest run ever. She looked really strong, just a bit short of speed, in what was a tough heat. Adeleke losing to Wilson, goes in the B final tonight. The women's 400/400 hurdles this summer will be compulsive viewing.

At the same comp an indoor pb of 18.16 for Isaac Kambamba Delaney in the men's u20 shot and SB 56.72 for Chukwu Osammor in the discus.

In action away from Istanbul, Cleo Agyepong threw a season's best 14.75m shot put at the winter throws international in Sweden, according to Ian Hodge. That's just 5cm away from the European U20s qualifying standard.

"British athletes living overseas will be asked to provide copies of their passport to prove their nationality. Children below the U18 IAAF age group may only appear on the Power of 10 provided they were either born in the UK or have a British passport. In either case a copy of their birth certificate or passport is required. Athletes from IAAF U18+ age with dual nationality (i.e. UK and another country) may be included, but this will be at the discretion of UK Athletics & athletes should contact Ian Hodge at [email protected] for approval."

"All athletes resident within Great Britain & Northern Ireland are eligible for Power of 10 inclusion. However foreign athletes in the IAAF U18 age group and above will not appear in the main ranking lists; their performances will be included at the foot of the ranking lists with other resident foreign athletes.

Young athletes up to and including those that turn 15 years of age in the current year, will automatically appear in the UK ranking lists. Upon moving to the IAAF U18 age group (the year that the athlete turns 16) the performances will then be included with other resident foreign athletes at the foot of the ranking lists. We will only consider moving these athletes to the UK rankings on production of a scanned copy of a current British passport or birth certificate."

Amber Anning and Yemi MaryJohn both qualify for the NCAA finals, as does hurdler Marcia Sey; Tara Simpson-Sullivan in the weight; Alix Still in the pentathlon. Amber is the best shot for a medal in the women's events, ranked third going in.

Yusuf Bizimana has the fastest time in the 800 and Tade Ojora in the hurdles, and Josh Zeller also qualifies. Jake Burkey goes in the LJ.

Some more recent results: 6.38 SB for u23 LJer Funminiyi Olajide in the US - indoor PB and she's only jumped further than that outdoors once. And a 20cm pb of 6.24 in Spain for Leigh Thompson who was fourth in this year's UK champs.

Charles Hicks ran a SB 7.47 over 3000.

Also over the weekend in the NCCA, Isabel Wakefield lowered her 60mH SB to 8.18 at the ACC Indoor Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. She then ran 8.27 for 4th place in the final. The following day, Wakefield competed in the long jump and finished in 3rd place, with a best effort of 6.19m, just off her 6.20m SB. (This was the same meeting that Alix Still set a new Scottish indoor pentathlon record (4177 points) at, btw.)

In the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, also over the weekend (and which MysteryBrick alluded too earlier), was a bumper meeting for the Brits competing for their representative colleges.

2018 European U18 110m hurdles champion Sam Bennett continued his return to action, after 2 1/2 years side-lined by injury, with victory in the 60mH. After a heat win in 7.92, Bennett would go on to win the final in 7.85, just 1/100th down on the PB he set a month earlier. (As an aside, on the week that the great Greg Foster died, a namesake came 4th in the race behind Bennett.)

Daniel Falode, 2021 European U20 5th placer in the triple jump, won here at the Ivy League TJ with a best of 15.53m.

Kenneth Ikeji improved his weight throw PB to 22.66m as he won by nearly 3 meters.

And Philip Kastner won the men's indoor heptathlon with a 5492 point total.

The British women were led by Sarah Omeregie who won the shot put contest, throwing a best of 16.88m. While in the high jump, U23 athlete Madeleine Wood, also took away a victory, jumping a 1.76m SB.

Other Brits competing were U20 triple jumper Georgina Scoot, who finished 4th in both the TJ (12.17m) and LJ (5.83m), while 19 year old Lily Parris, who reached the semi-finals of the 2021 European U20s in the 100mH, was 6th in the 60mH in a time of 8.63 seconds.

Another good result from one of our promising crop of u20 sprint hurdlers: 7.78 for Daniel Castilla in Spain yesterday, apparently over the senior hurdles.

Well, now things are getting interesting regarding Castilla.

Having recently set a new Spanish NU20 record of 7.67 at the DNA meeting in Madrid last week (and narrowly beating top British U20 hurdler this year Daniel Goriola in the process), I just decided to check Castilla's Po10 page to see if this new result had been updated. It has been, with the record breaking performance included in his 2023 results.... but then I noticed another, more prominent alteration to his page.

Initially, I thought there had been an error made by Po10, because Castilla's 2023 results appeared to have been duplicated for no apparent reason... until I took a closer look at the supposed "duplicate" results listing.

There I noticed in the panel that shows the year, age group and the club/country affiliation, that instead of the "2023, U20, Unattached" that had been there previously, this new panel now was simply titled "Awaiting Approval".
Meanwhile the athletics results in this new listing are only showing Castilla's performances since February 18th and none of those from before this date.

Make of that what you will....

Big pb for 20 year old Kenny Ikeji in the weight throw at the weekend, throwing 22.66m. His previous best was 21.62m, he should be throwing well over 70m this year.
