  • It's snuck up on me a bit - only 5 days until the European Indoor Championships start.

So, within the next 24 hours I will be posting the thread for our Prediction Contest.

    • Oh dear, we don’t want Azu false starting like that.

When you're as good a starter as Azu clearly is, you'll get the occasional mishap like this one. I'm sure he'll iron it out before Istanbul next week.

    • Daryll Neita wins her heat of the 60m fairly comfortably, beating Shericka Jackson by a decent margin, in 7.14

        Neita looked very good there.

    • Dina looked better, lowering her NR to 7.03.

      • New NR for DAS! 7.03 in the 2nd heat!

        • Dina's not here to piss about...`

Looked pretty all-out there, but could the 7 second barrier be tickled in the final?

          • Brilliant from Gourley, he is really coming into his own this season.

That final wouldn't be a done deal...! Will have to be fast to drop Gourley in this form.

          • 2 UK NR in one day... Neil Gourley takes the indoor 1500m record that Josh Kerr held, 3:32.48! Andrew Coscaran in 3rd place was rewarded with a new Irish indoor record of 3:33.49, and right behind, countryman Luke McCann getting a new PB of 3:34.76

            • Not quite as quick in the women's 60m final as she was in the heats, but Dina Asher Smith takes the win in 7.05, ahead of Daryll Neita's 7.13

Good day's work by DAS. Same old story with Neita tensing up in a final.

            • Laura Muir can’t hold her early pace in the 1000m

              • Gourley's time was faster than his outdoor PB.

                • 1.57.19 for Keely, another British record.

                  • Looked like a good race by Boffey in third too, also lowering her PB. Yarigo was nowhere.

If Yarigo had been nowhere at the beginning as well, that would have been a 1:56 for KH. As it was, KH definitely had to take the long way around her. A "proper race" can be fast, but the racing needs to be nearer the end, not the beginning. LOL.

                  • Keely looks a bit pi**ed off that she only broke her NR by 0.02s.

She clearly has high expectations of herself. She's got another chance at Euros.

I think Keely knows that she is 1:55/1:56 form currently and is annoyed at herself for not running the races exactly as she (and Painter/Meadows) have planned out... The knowledge that she's the first 800m runner to run 3 times under 1:58 indoors since Stephanie Graf and Jolanda Ceplak did so in 2002, probably matters not to her right now.

As Tim said in the commentary, Čeplak’s WR came out of a head-to-head duel with Graf & I think that’s what’s needed.

Yep... She is head and shoulders above the rest of the world currently over 800m indoors. Yarigo and Bisset were well beaten by Hodgkinson today in that race. What we *really* want to see is her matched up with Mu.
                  Working...
