Do we normally do individual threads? I can’t remember but thought why not….
Not many brits I could see but neita down to run

Wightman is in the 1000m against Korir - should give a good idea of how the Euros 800m will go, as I suspect he’ll race it as a long 800m, with an extra 200m

Surprised Neita is racing. Won't help her chances against Dina in Germany.

Can't see Korir lasting a 1000m - very much a 400m/800m runner. I saw him on a run on Pre's Trail during the World Champs (excuse the casual boasting!) . He was jogging slowly with the Star Wars theme blasting out of his phone. So slow in fact, that I passed him twice whilst doing a very modest interval session. I reckon he was going no faster than 9mins per mile!

She still has 8 days before the heats of the 800, and its not far to travel.

Well that's true but she seems like she needs recovery and rest time to me. Still I suppose I'm no expert!

Or Kambundji. She probably needs the money. Very tough field in Monaco.

I guess it costs athletes reputation & eventually $$$ if you start to get a reputation as a no-show.

There is an interesting 2 minute interview with Jake Wightman on the diamond league twitter. After the big win in Eugene he says he mentally struggled to focus on the Commonwealths, and didn't have the finish that he did at the Worlds. My reading of him is that he gave 100% in Eugene, and he will need proper rest before he can be that competitive again. Although he is in the shape of his life, I wouldn't expect any big wins from him again until next year.

Tentoglou really does look pedestrian on the runway, yet he jumps over 8.50 and is a championship performer.

DN running fast times but struggling to compete at this level. Should be in contention for a minor medal at the ECs next week.

I think she has a win in her. Just needs a psychological tweak.

She’s had glandular fever! She will bounce back next year. She’s doing all the right things it’s just her body is still not quite playing ball, but will it will soon
