she also ran 52.4 at this years outdoor champs, appearing to lack the foot speed over the 1st 200m in each round.

Slightly disagree in regards to 800 runners and 400h being able to cope better, the key is flat foot speed, this is king. Yes a long hurdler may be used to kick off the final hurdle and an 800m runner may "kick" off the front, but these are at much slower speeds than a relay would be performed at. Don't disagree with a comment that the "strength" both these events require isn't beneficial, but this isn't due to any change of pace its purely down to approach speed in that last 50m -but generically would be coming through faster perhaps .025-5 meter per second in the closing, if practiced as these require much more awareness of the outgoing runners).

Hope that makes sense? not that I have a say lol just my thoughts

Would love to see Keely run. Ran 52.4 indoors with an awful start and running wide. Reckon she'd deliver a low 51 or high 50 relay leg. 800 runners, like 400mHers seem to cope better than 400 specialists with the changes of pace that are often forced upon athletes in relays.

Approx. splits for EA women using coaches eye, were 50.9 / 51.9 / 50.9 / 51.8 (within a tenth as of course camera angle isn't exact on line)

I think I read that Yeargin had covid at some before or just after the Worlds. Would probably put her in the relay before Pipi but it’s a close one. I feel like Yeargin is more likely to drop a surprise fast split whereas Pipi is more likely to drop a stinker. But she did run really well at CWG

    Good point on Pipi.

Laviai is an excellent relay runner so usually outperforms her SB.

It was just a quick search for anyone with a first name beginning with V and last name beginning with O who has been vaguely near a 400m this year, nothing more...

Has anyone got ENG’s splits - the CWG website doesn’t have them, after the DQ?

Ama Pipi has moved above Yeargin in the pecking order. Ama was a creditable 4th in Brum, while Yeargin failed to make the final. Ama’s split was also quicker than Yeargins. Laviai was superb in Eugene, so I’d like to see her involved in some capacity, she has been entered into the individual event, so presumably is ready despite missing CWG. VO on lead-off has been a real find this season. Tricky to know who to put on anchor if JW prefers the second leg

Apparently Veronica O'Neill is an U17 athlete representative for the City Of Derry athletics club, is a hurdler over 80m, 100m and 300m.

Haha - my plot for a team of (U17 athlete) Veronica O'Neil - Bianca Williams - Yeargin - Lina Nielsen has been foiled.

For the removal of doubt, though, it was Jodie and Laviai.

To be fair he’s not actually said which Williams either….could be one of three 😂

Covering yourself with a blanket Nielsen there Mystery. Could have gone further and put L. Nielsen instead.

I think the actual correct answer to any 'best theoretical British 4x400 team' includes a surprise DAS dropping a 49.x split somewhere with her 21.8 speed, but that sadly ain't likely to happen...

In terms of what is likely, I think VO - Williams - Yeargin - Nielsen sounds best.
