Thrilled for Laura Muir, but womens 1500m running without Kipyegon and Tsegay is really quite boring, isn't it? Stuck in the last lap sprint era. Mageean's margin to bronze says it all about that race. Gutless of the paceless Aussies to let it go so slow. Nobody seems to even try to beat the big 3, they just give them the race to suit every time.

I expect they knew they couldn't beat Laura going fast anyway, and thought a slow race was their best chance for silver, not counting on Mageean.

Yeah, I think the others are just being realistic about their chances of gold. As for silver, there's no reason why they wouldn't fancy their chances against Mageean. You'd normally trust Jess Hull & Linden Hall to beat Mageean.Last edited by LuckySpikes; 07-08-22, 19:34.

Don't buy that @Occasional. Muir, Mageean, Reekie, Nanyondo, Chebet have all ran well under 2.00 for 800m. Jess Hull hasn't broken 2.03 and is a 14.40 5000m runner. There is no way she could believe she'd have any of them.in a 500m burn up.

Great run by Ciara Mageean to take silver. One of the Aussies got bronze.

We've been so spoilt by middle distance racing recently that races like that feel deeply underwhelming. Kinyamal and Bol the class and got the run of the race - Don't know how Pattison won bronze after the way he ran - Probably ran the worst race in the field. Big talent and an impressive bronze.
