But let’s not fall into the trap of making Keely out as someone who can’t win gold. She is an absolute winner but these have been tough fields at Olympic, World and Commonwealth level

Except Moraa is 22 and Mu is 20. If neither aren't way laid by significant injury, they could be around for the next decade.

"She could have won by considerably more had she chosen" ... "toying with the field"

What a load of nonsense at this level. I can't believe these people are paid to commentate. The rest slit eachothers throats and Moraa judged it perfectly. It happens!

      What an utterly bizarre race.

Provided Keely is headed to Munich for the Euro Champs, then she has a real chance for revenge there. Clear European no.1 and no one really there who can challenge her. Though I think winning gold there will not be nearly as satisfying as doing so against the likes of Mu and Moraa.

Anna Purchase finishes 7th after a rather unimpressive series.

Keely looked like she’d just switched off the focus, once she knew she’d have Goule, and didn’t have a change of pace. Moraa and Mu likely have much better 200m speed, and that might be a better place to target, as she can run a decent 400m off of strength. She’s livid she lost that!

Moraa - some people have suggested she might be DSD, but the Kenyans have dropped a fair number of athletes over the last few years for DSD, so one assumes Kenyan testing is happening, and she’s been around for a few years. (Tangent: Hima Das was “asked by the Indian authorities to work on her speed, hence the WJ Champion dropping to the 200m” - so possibly another for the list.

I'm sure everyone gets tested for that now as part of their biological passport.

I wonder what odds you could have got a few months ago for Amber Simpson top UK performer in the HT.

Do we get to claim half of Weir’s medal?

2nd and 4th in the steeple back for their second final of the day in the 5k…unusual!

Comparing their splits from Eugene is interesting. Both were over half a second quicker through 400m here than they were then, but Keeley dropped off a lot on the second lap here whereas Moraa only dropped 0.3 secs.

Moraa dropped 1.2 secs between 400-500m, then outsplit Keeley by 1.5 secs in the last 300 here.

Compare that to Eugene and Keeley outsplit Moraa over the last 300 there by 0.4 seconds, having been 0.1 ahead of her at both 400m and 500m.

I don't really know what any of that means, but just that it was a weird race.

Moraa arrived as a great talent when she ran brilliantly in the Kenyan Champs in both 400m and 800m. Mu better be aware next year.
Keely still has not the manic speed yet to be a winner but who knows what her future is.Let us remember that Keely ran 1.57 and bits but was quite a bit slower in this race than in Tokyo, with a two race stint this time round.
I assume she was more affected by her great race in Eugene.

Marc Scott is either running horrific tactics or hasn’t got it today - he’s all over the place

Gonna need some explanations on Scott because his form disappeared suddenly this summer
