and just for completeness for the HJ trying out TJ theme, according to Po10 Laura Zialor had a few attempts at triple jump in her youth...

Lake 1.89 first time is much better…but those early failures will be costly

The outdoor performances from our lady high jumpers have been abject. There are far too many of our athletes receiving funding, who shouldn't be getting a penny.
-
She has really struggled transitioning to the seniors and being under pressure to perform. Her demeanour compared to her junior days is quite something

Another tight second time clearance for Morgan at 1.85. Laura will need to try a third time.

Isn’t Borthwick only about 5’7? If so, she’s always going to have a ceiling against 6’+ women. I’d like to see her try the TJ - just have a bit of fun with it and see how it goes.

The race walk field was always going to be dispersed around the track, leaving a very small window of opportunity for a jumper to focus, if, as in the case of Morgan Lake, your run-up spills onto the lanes. It's not going to help her cause...

Andrew Cotter doing a crappy job of explaining the Race Walking ... talking about "warnings" - being unclear whether he means yellow paddles or red cards.

Laura Zialor over 1.85 at the second try and looks very happy.

Thanks JJimboJames, I wasn't aware of the 'mental health issues'. I just hope she finds something to bring her joy, 'cause from her facial expressions, HJ rarely does ...

Such a shame to see the dip in form for Borthwick, we all know she is much better than 1.81m.
I don’t think we can really speculate what has led to the loss of form but I hope she can come back stronger next year.

Yes, I corrected that. Didn't see the 1.76 clearance.
But still not really good enough from someone who jumped 1.95 indoors.
