Laura Muir has an intense schedule over the next few days. Todays heat should be very easy though.

Made easier with no semis last night, though!

I suppose the schedule is about as accommodating as it could be for someone doubling considering there's only 6 days.

Yep, might get 5 hours sleep tonight. Unfortunately for me my Park Run starts right in the middle of the Men's Shot Put! Will have to be a short post-run appraisal before getting back to the car for an update.

Lovely hurdling from Cindy Sember, not so much as a graze.

Melissa CB really should have tried to at least make the first couple of laps fast: she was never going to be able to get past that lot on the final straight.

Just as well the second heat was slower. Pleased to see she got the q along with Jemma.

Tim showing he’s a distance guy….waiting until the home straight would lead to carnage at the changeover

Why is there no England team in the Men's 4x4 ? I know that standards aren't great ATM but I'm sure they could have cobbled a quartet together.

I just noted this fact on the 'state of play' thread - we know prior to this season the standards had been poor, injury/illness/doubt about form had afflicted some possibles, and there might have been a question around the 'quotas' for overall number of participants ... but it doesn't take away the fact this is a low point in British 4x400 [ i say British as there is no home nation team entered]

I’m guessing they looked at medal hopes when they were reducing the team down - and at that point, we didn’t look great beyond MHS. Team was picked before the British Champs, so on last year and early season, we would have needed to rely on guys running 46.high. They really should have waited until after the British Champs to select the team

It's poor organisation with timing since the 200m & 400m still have finals to come, I'm sure that has cut down the fields all round.

While both of them have had stronger eras at 400m there were also no teams from Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

Countries having to make choices…a relay squad of 5 or 6 takes out potential eg from their netball squad

                  Women’s 4x400 is a straight final I assume?

same evening as the 400 open final?? Why???

Quite right, surely unnecessary and unfair. We’ll be relying on using all that made the semis do it’ll be tough if they make the final.

very unfair, with also the men's 4x400 heats being run the morning of the men's 400 semi ... i know its a 6-day compressed meet but these are obvious things to avoid.

I swear a good schedule is not hard to write... no idea how people consistently mess it up.

Can't believe nobody is talking about this decathlon pole vault contest... the noise for Kendall clearing a new PB of 4.40m was incredible.

I think our unsung hero Ian Hodge would concur with you 'Star of the session was harry kendallwho was still posing for selfies/signing autographs 40 mins after he'd exited the vault'
