So much Chrissy O in that rub from Vicky O, loved it. Big medal shout.

Great for the brave Malawian girl to make the final - I really love the way the Commonwealth Games shines a light on athletes from smaller nations. She'd have been lost in all the drama at Worlds.

Exactly. I am sure she will now get some newspaper headlines back home, maybe some sponsorship, chance to run on the South African circuit etc. So little steps.

Looks like Simankwa has improved here Malawian record from 52.57 to 51.70, although they aren't indicating "NR"s on either the on-screen captions or the official site results pages.

Williams & Vicky O look clear for 1-2, but bronze could go anywhere in the womens 400. Exciting race in store.

Send a SP scout to NZ would be my advice. Impressive from the Kiwis.

Super throwing from the NZers, and no letting up at the end either.

Walsh the class, but great to see a big PB from Gill.

Well done Lincoln. After 3 rounds I was composing another sub 20m post…..

Especially as they’re rubbish at rugby now….

ETH looked superb, Ofili the challenger, Mboma looked strong but not in last year's form. Can't help thinking DN would have been in the mix.

Yes. She's not got a lot of experience at 200, but she definitely has the talent.

Metzger with a PB in round 1! 14:32.

Ricketts with a GR straight after.

                        TJ has started on fire.

That's the longest jump by a British woman at the Commonwealth Games in the triple jump since Ashia Hansen set the previous Games record of 14.86m in Manchester 2002.

We've been waiting for this for so long from Naomi. Now she has to repeat it reliably (and get better still, if that's not too much to ask).

Keely, MHS, Pratt, Miller, Coppell, maybe a relay or two - not sure who else might be contending for gold. We’d need most/all of these to come through if AUS gets at least six

Medal potential - wLJ (1 from 3), wHJ (1 from 3), w400m (Jodie or Vicky), w100H (Sember), m200m (Hughes, but would love Gemili to show up), m800m (Pattinson, ditto Webb showing up would be great - competition not outstanding), 1500m (wishful thinking for a slow-paced race and a GBR 123)
With the para medals included, AUS currently have 6 golds and ENG 5 golds, and more overall medals
