I appreciate the difficulties of organizing a full athletics programme into six days but tonights schedule does look very low powered for the first evening when it's not clashing with the swimming.

Agree with you but I'm enjoying the dedicated athletics feed, in particular the parathletics women's discus competition.

Womens 800m semis were originally supposed to be tonight and have left a bit of a gap in the schedule.

This all feels very dull after last night

Well deserved applause for Nwachukwu who won the women's para discus competition.

Star of the night by far - Really enjoyed watching her. Crowd agree too - Lots of appreciation.

The lack of "star" events tonight means that the field event finals are getting more attention than they might otherwise, which is no bad thing in my opinion.

I'd even go so far as to say that the scheduling was done this way for precisely that reason, to allow the field events to have some spotlight on them for a change.

Just messed up the explanation of the tie though! He only needed 7.96 to win, not 8.09.

I can jinx anything! But her delivery is very good.

If you're bored you can always switch over to Cali.

(I'm trying to watch both at once...)

This guy Frayne looks like he’s arrived for the 1924 Paris Olympics. Perhaps he thought he’d blend into Birmingham.

Were the Aussies rules so strict that they couldn't get razors?

Frayne's always been a bit of a moustache man. This is actually les spivvy than the last time I saw him.

Overtaken by Okoye with 64.97. Doubters?

Plenty. He is / was capable of so much more than that. With that talent / physical gifts it will be a travesty that this will be his first international medal. He’s now 30 and had thrown 68m at 20.

That was a very fun men's long jump final, showing that you don't have to be jumping 8.50m+ to have an enthralling contest.

As an aside for Discus followers, Connor Bell, who threw 64.19 at 19, broke his ankle dirt-biking last November. Hoping he can make top-8 today.

Brilliant comeback from Pozzi to take a surprise bronze. The season looks to have finally caught up with Zeller.

                Excellent win from Broadbell.

I don't know, I don't know that zeller did anything wrong particularly, its just that's the best race i've seen pozzi do in a while

Yes, on rewatch Zeller was fourth which is perfectly decent. Pozzi won a medal there rather than Zeller losing one.
