I've only just realised Mary Moraa is attempting the triple. Has it ever been done at a major? I don't remember Juantarena doing any 4x4 duty.

A couple of random observations ...
It's not the Holly Mills I was expecting, given she focused on the CG over the WC, might we hear post event, that she has had 'you know what' which disrupted her preparation, or a 'niggle', as her 200 was far too slow for a rising star, and her SP very disappointing.
I thought Jeanette Kwakye was very good as the studio anchor during Eugene, so rather surprised she has been relegated to the mix zone to accommadate Gabi...
The stadium looks fantastic, and the packed morning sessions show there is a real appetite for athletics that needs to be engaged, well done Birmingham.

JK should feel very hard done by. The fascination with Gabby Logan and Clare Balding needing to be everywhere, front and centre is too much….as is the number of bodies in studios…far too many people, and each one needs to give an opinion to justify being there…

I am glad someone else feels the sameps... That evening sky was astonishing - if they only could guarantee that every night, it would have tourists flocking all year from around th world.

Stella Chesang (UGA) might also be in the medal mix - the defending champion from Gold Coast 2018. She was behind Eilish in Eugene in a 31:01 NR but she ran a 10k in Cape Town in May in 30:40, beating Genzebe Dibaba
I can't discount Sarah Chelangat (UGA) either. She's only 21 and quite a talent with plenty of scope for improvement. She was 4th in that very tight U20 race at the 2019 World XC champs. Chelangat was just 1 second behind the winner but out of the medals.
Jess Judd might be in the medal shakedown too?
These races have never gone out very quick - the Games Record is 31:27 - and so if it plays out the same way, I wouldn't fancy Eilish's chances in a last lap burn-up against the Kenyans & Ugandans. She has good finishing speed but not great - it's difficult to get those long legs turning over quick enough!

I am hardened to missing athletics live or at all on occasions. I do not like leaping about the platforms in case I may see some athletics. All the recorded stuff and se citting around in case the announcement is made that we will see this and that at various times... too much. thank you.
The comments from the studio swim prattlers and the commentaries by the 2 swimming gurus are pathetic. nationalistic fatheads
with five adjectives in their vocabularies. Fabulous, magnificent, incredible and a couple of others. I vote Addlington the silliest giggling woman on tv.

Ama Pipi safely through to the semi-finals of the 400m, winning the final heat in 52.46. Mary Moraa, clearly prioritizing the 800m that she is already in the finals of, jogged around the lap to finish last, making sure she fulfilled her obligations to complete the races she was entered into to be able to compete in the 800m.

It occurs that the Euros in a couple of weeks has track and field, swimming, rowing, gymnastics at least so I suspect a repeat of this bbc struggle.Last edited by marilyn1; 03-08-22, 11:11.
