KJT’s shot was a SB, so she may well close the door in the jav with a decent throw…who’d have thought!?
Ahem! Oh ye of little faith!

Shes so emotional now - she needed this for the belief…

      KJT is Commonwealth champion again.

Now she needs to build back her good events to challenge at the highest kevel.

Think it was good for her to get a PB in the javelin. It must be a bit dismal competing & always being under what you did years ago.

I’m pleased she’s skipping Euros - go into a full winter with confidence

        Makes sense.

As a former HJ coach I have to mention the NZ win for Hamish Kerr. If the winning height had been better than 2.25 I would rate it better than his bronze in World Indoors). Good to see NZ has jumpers as well as throwers who can medal.

Must be a rare event when every woman who starts a heptathlon also finishes.

Also they all recorded points in every event so everybody got a mark in the field and no DQs on the track. Of course, athletes who get zero points in an event and more likely to pull out.

Well done to Kat, I wonder if going forward the javelin is an event she can mine away more points from. Realistically it might be tough for her to get back to sub 23 form. Her run up was much better. JOD moves into second place in the pecking order behind KJT, 62xx again with an iffy javelin. Kate OC did well, a consistent two days from her

Both throws hold a lot of potential, but she needs to get proper coaching in them…and a simple, repeatable technique. Look at someone like Warner - no fireworks but consistent each time.

That said, she should be able to get back to 1.90/6.70 on a consistent basis. More should be there, but may be more one offs. I’d like to see her compete a little more in the hurdles, too, as she surely has more there, too

            Gold for Omanyala.

            Something up with NMB?

Just a beaten man, I thought. Messed up his start & couldn’t catch up.

Watching him in the rerun he looks potentially injured. That's a pain for the relay, and at the Euros too.

            • Hmmm more relay issues judging by the way nmb ran there, looks like there's some issues.

              • Kenyan sprint gold and Sri Lankan bronze!

Hopefully not an injury for NMB, think he stumbled out the blocks then looked done.

was just watching it back, I'm wondering if it's a hamstring..he seemed a bit tight out of the blocks but about 20 metres in it looks to me like something goes and he's really gritting his teeth by the end

Doesn't look good. Could be a bit of a make-do English 4x100 team.

              • 10.02 into a 0.9m/s headwind.

                • Abeykoon has run 9.96 this year. What is the commentator talking about? It's like he did no research, saw a Sri Lankan flag and presumed he was an also ran. Disrespectful tbh.

Agreed but I fear it may be slightly too cool.

                  • Omanyala a great run to beat Simbine ...

Not sure about NMB. Was he injured ? He did finish the race so maybe just gave up after missing the start else why even keep running ?

He was gritting his teeth in a way that suggests that he had injured himself.
