Just in the interests of balance why would you have have both men’s and women’s 100m semis and finals on the same night?

Might be a blissful evening for LoveSprints1 and Sprintfan. But just doesn’t make sense to me.

I think it is shortened calendar - they only have 6 days for the champs, and you've also got to fit in the 4x100m.

Possibly. But maybe they could have swapped around with the 200s or hurdles without massive inconvenience. Just feels odd.

It works well enough at many events, including the Europeans last night. Athletes don't have to do a full warm-up; for the most part, the cream rises, and it is great too when there are "surprise" medallists. 100m athletes do not need a day to recover from a semi. Same day morning (SF) and evening sessions (F) or both in the evening brings in the viewers too, I imagine.

O'Dowda can easily put a 100 points on KJT in the JT. Then there would be almost nothing in it. And she is surely in 800m PB shape, say 2:14. ...In which case KJT is going to have to improve massively on her SB to win it. (Of course her PB would put her far away and clear, but she's not going to get close to that this week.)
    Game. on.

Do you have iplayer? They were on live there.

Yes I have iplayer on phone and my lenovo. I did see the 10K live on iplayer cos it came up as a ref on my tv the other night saying go to iplayer.
. Sometimes there is some inconsistency in what's on where and when.

Are they going to break 6300 pts

          45m and 2:14 would add 1670 points for O'Dowda.
I think that is enough for a PB, but would be just under 6300.

Euro Champs standard is 6250 -- definitely on for O'Dowda.

O'Connor is 4pts off her PB pace currently. High pressure javelin coming up for all three ladies.

An exciting Javelin competition that involves multiple home nations athletes, its almost enough to make Ursus weep with joy

Well enough to make him weep. With the odd exception the techniques are awful and the distances club level. Same with the shot. I hate watching it TBH. Always feels like too many don’t work hard enough at the throws and leave too many points out there.

Enough bah humbug and well done to Kat for her PB anyhow.

By the way, in this almighty slugging match between 5 well matched athletes, O'Dowda's LJ best has been the outstanding moment so far. The one clear sign from her that she might be able to move up to true world class.

Agreed. It was a 'hang on' moment, because 6.50m is a top score for a heptathlete, and in order to actually make waves you need a couple of those. I still worry about her 200m speed, but that can still improve.

Right. And I am being a bit unfair. KJT's 200 was up into world class for a HEP. Its just that by her own ludicrously high standards the target in the 200 is 22-point!

All the athletics is live on the iPlayer - you don't have to wait for the 'pop-up' message on the TV. Unfortunately, the links for the streams aren't very well organised and it takes a bit of scrolling to find the current live stream.

I think we have to remember that JOD was the only one with more than 2.0 wind behind her…switch her and KJT’s wind, and we likely wouldn’t be discussing KJT being at risk…KOC actually had a headwind!

KJT’s shot was a SB, so she may well close the door in the jav with a decent throw…who’d have thought!?

When you access Iplayer, select 'view all commonwealth games' and scroll down to athletics feed.

Edoborun must wait for LL times. Did not dip properly, argh! 10.30 will surely not be enough.
