I hope we never take Adam Peaty for granted. What an absolute legend he is.

Yeah CWG swimming is late July/Early August ie a timed dress rehearsal for the Olympics.

In fairness plenty of the Aussies and Brits clearly favoured the CWG over the World Champs (or were injured in the case of Scott/Peaty). And there also was a bigger gap between the 2 meets than there was in athletics. I blame the scheduling of athletics rather than the athletes themselves.

That was a bit more like the Adam Peaty that everyone knows, dominating from start to finish in the 2nd semi finals of the 100m breaststroke, swimming nearly a full second faster than he did in the morning heats, and nearly went under 59 seconds here. No one is going to be able to touch him in the final, that's for sure and I think he'll go a good way into the 58 second region to bag another gold medal.

It was also a great swim from James Wilby in the 1st semi, and he goes into the final as the 3rd fastest qualifier, while Ross Murdoch also made the final.

Australia dominated as expected in the women's 4x100 free but a cracking battle between England and Aus in the men's. It's times like this though that you wish GBR wasn't split into its constituent parts - Matt Richards has been blisteringly quick for Wales in both relays and we don't even know what Duncan Scott's form in the 100 is right now. If GBR maintain their trajectory towards Paris they are serious medal contenders.

Is anyone else so indoctrinated to champs = odd hours that you wake up and check to see what you missed from the overnight action? 🤦‍♂️

Well Tokyo & Paris was quite the double whammy. Budapest and Paris will be a walk in the park the next 2 years!

Agreed and sadly largely ignored by the fatheaded public every year.

As the North American branch of the board, I can safely say no. Eugene was easy for me.

I'm having the experience you guys had the other week. Lots of getting up at 3am for me this week!

And an easy win as it turned out. Huge crowds again. Silver for Wales.

Peaty clearly lacking race fitness. Great result for Wilby

Even with his issues, I thought he would have been good enough to win... But I guess trying to win CWG gold just 10 weeks after breaking a foot was just too much, even for Peaty.

I suggest that the rest of the world will be on the look out now though... Peaty will not take being beaten for the first time in a competitive race since 2014 lightly, I'm sure he'll be very, *very* motivated for the 2024 Olympics.

Outstanding result for Wilby though. He was magnificent, and that was one of his fastest ever times to win that gold medal.
                          Working...
