Blimey, Mancs meet is being promoted by Vicente Modahl, there is a name from the past!

Tim Hutchings thrown in a tizzy by a lane redraw even though everyone has their names written in 72point print on their chests.

The broadcaster coverage of the women's hammer started well, but after round 1, it petered out...

So often the case, thank goodness for the excellent live results feed. Kathrine Jacobsen Of Denmark won.

Luiza Gega not acclimatising well to Mancunian conditions. 🤣

Mancs provides picture in coverage of field events while a race is going on: a tecchnical wonder the BBC has not achieved in decades.

Owen adds another 10cm with 5.45 in Manchester.

Watched most of the Manchester meet on the live stream and honestly it felt like amateur hour.

the usual poor camera angles and commentators clearly not seeing the same pictures we’re seeing on tv. Tim and Jenny are just not a great combination, poor knowledge of the field on many occasions and just a general lack of professionalism from the meet probably didn’t help - ie being handed incorrect start lists.

Where were the Brits? A lot of DNS and a curious lack of enthusiasm for the meet. It’s not often that international fields are assembled on these shores outside of the diamond league, so why weren’t they here?? Weren’t invited by the organisers? Either way it was a missed opportunity to get good ranking points at a silver level event.

On top of that the website is poor, the socials and marketing left a lot to be desired. Hopefully the athletes themselves got something out of the meet. But to me this didn’t seem to meet the standards of equivalent meets held around Europe.

                Rant over.

I had trouble with the stream but the results site worked very well.

Looks like Katie Stainton is a no-show at the Defi'Athlon meeting in Montpellier. She didn't line up for her heat of the 100m hurdles unfortunately.

Meanwhile in Arona, Niamh Emerson opens up with a solid hurdles time of 14.23, a big season's best by 3/10ths of a second. She was a little down on top French hurdler Solene Ndama, who won it in 13.24.

BTW, I can't say this enough but the results website for the Arona event is simply awful. I've had to rely on the results being read out by the presenters (one a Spaniard and the other is a Scottish lady) who themselves are having to wait ages for the results to come through. The site hasn't updated yet for either the 100m hurdles, nor the 100m in the decathlon.

Yes, I agree! The website is dreadful. If the BOXX meeting was "amateur hour" , then this has plumbed new depths. Ironically, in the background, the Stones are singing (I can't get no) Satisfaction

Right, moment of truth time for Niamh Emerson. She's about to compete in her first high jump contest since suffering the season-ending injury, which would be the first of a string of other injuries that have blighted her since, while jumping in Gotzis 2019.

Emerson's opening height is 1.73m... And she's clear over it on the first attempt! Hmm, can we say that she is properly back now?
