      • Yep, solid stuff from Keeley & very good from Laura.

        • Wonder if Muir is feeling that 800m is a better bet for the WC and 1500m for later. She looked good tonight

I’m thinking it’s just getting some speed work in.

She might fancy the double as she intended last year before being persuaded otherwise.

        • There is only one person on the planet who can beat Keely Hodgkinson in the 800m... Athing Mu. Everyone else is fighting for scraps behind Keely whenever she is racing.

1:57.71, a season's best, and she made it look ridiculously easy.

Muir's return to form from that mixed race is confirmed with a 1:58.09, which would be her "official" 2nd fastest time ever at the 800m, as she followed Hodgkinson over the line next, a fine British 1-2.

Jemma Reekie struggled though, finishing in 8th place, though going sub 2 minutes with 1:59.83.

          • Eilish is saying on twitter that she had a cold this week, probably shouldn't have raced but she was already in Oslo. Nothing to worry about.

            • Jake Wightman gave it his all in that men's Mile world record tilt from Jakob Ingebrigsten, and though he faded on the back straight while the Norwegian and Australia's Oliie Hoare pulled away, the Scot was rewarded with a new PB and NR of 3:50.30, taking down Graham Williamson's 3:50.64, which would have celebrated it's 40th anniversary on the 13th of July.

              • The Longstocking Brigade won the 4x4 to close out the meeting. Norway national record behind them. (but not needed for WCs qualification, right?)

                • I very much doubt that Laura M is aiming for the 800/1500 double at the worlds considering the championship schedule that comes afterwards. I think she is just trying to replicate her build-up that worked well for her in Tokyo. In the 800m she would be in all likelihood runing for bronze, and that would even be a long-shot considering what would be required in the heats, semis and final of the 1500.

                  • Decent starts from Prescod in his last 2 races. Didn't quite have the finish this time, he seems to relax more in the outside lanes. Encouraging, with much more to come.

Is there footage of the race somewhere? (the live feed cut out and they didn't show a replay of it at the end on BBC)

Losing to De Grasse is no disgrace - he's clearly timing his season right as per usual.

Yeah, losing to de Grasse by 0.01 is a good sign that he is in excellent form. The big question is can he hold it, and also what is his temperament like?

The race is on Prescod's Instagram.

                  • I'll be interested to see how Daryll Neita gets on against SAFP this evening in Paris. Warm conditions so hopefully something close to 10.90

Not just "warm". By the time of the women's 100m in Paris, the temperature between 9pm and 10pm according to Accuweather is expected to be 37C to 35C. They are actually issuing weather warnings due to the heat expected.

                      Fast times would be likely.

Encouraging indeed. Taken into account how generally awful the weather was in Kuortane today, being able to manage one of your longest wind legal jumps ever is a good sign of things to come for Metzger.

                  • National Record for Lizzie Bird in Paris.

                      9:19.46, fantastic stuff.

                  • Lizzie Bird lowers her NR to 9.19.46 in a very solid 4th behind that stunning performance by Yavi.

                    • SB by Elliot Giles but just short of the A standard. I assume thats what he was after in that race.

Maybe if Giles hadn't spent the last 100m watching himself on the screen, he might have got the A standard.
