  • ...I note that Pammy Jelimo in beast mode would have led that race last night from gun to tape. Would she have been `paced by the men'?
(Time now for my annual observation that Pammy's 1:54.01 is the true WR. ....But also to add that both Mu and Hodgkinson can beat it.)

You’ve got to say the mens 800 hasn’t been particularly good this year, Korir in no form and Brazier only having raced once
Dobek is the man I rate highly. A fine performance by Burgin but the test is 3 races with no Pacers and notoriously brutal in barging, elbowing etc.. Max has the speed for sure,,; I anticipate other excellent efforts later in the year.

drobbie has given us a sock... poetic licence.
Thanks drobbie. It is clear that Laura did use them for a tow. I wonder if she thinks the big two in the 800 or Kipyegon in the 15 might do the same job for her.

      • Thanks Drobbie. Much appreciated

        • Anticipating a performance from Prescod in Oslo tonight to back up his Ostrava run. It won't be that warm when he runs but he must be buzzing after his 9.93. Was that a one off, or is the athlete of 2018 back to deliver on his unquestionable ability.

Here's hoping! Maybe a good run from Ojie too

        • 45.69 for Haydock-Wilson in Copenhagen - a good strong run and just inside his SB.

All the more impressive considering he also competed in the 200m earlier in the day (a race that he also won too).

        • Ian Hodge reports a 20.33 Euro standard for NMB.

          • Mmf, Eilish on a bad day, drops out. These cold wet conditions were never going to suit a girl from Dundee, of course. 😂

She was looking OK early on, but then the cameras spent ages on the PV and we didn't see her falling back.

          • Oh dear, what's up with Eilish?

            • Is it me, or does Reece never look too comfortable in the blocks? Anyway, that's a good solid run that confirms his 9.93 was no fluke.

Good considering the conditions. Pity we weren't allowed to see it.

              • Well, with the live feed down due to technical difficulties, the men's 100m is won by Andre DeGrasse in 10.05 (+0.5m/s), just ahead of Reece Prescod's 10.06.

                • Another DL with poor weather. At least Paris scheduled to be very hot. Too late with all the national Champs happening in the next week.
