The wind (a headwind of -0.5) was shown in the screenshot of the results Adam posted.

OK, it was a pretty low level meeting. Coach Miami Presents The Show Down 2nd Edition 2022, mainly for kids, but a few open events including the 200 Adam ran in, probably because it's close by for his training group.

http://milesplit.live/meets/486022/events/6/F/M Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

He's entered in the British champs at both 100 and 200, so you won't have long to wait to see if he can back it up.

Posted something similar - didn't like the links included so my post is unapproved. Looks legit but just a low key meeting with mostly school races.

For those who like adjusting apparently it was in to a -0.5.
Interestingly the AW summary round up of performances today has not mentioned this alleged performance. Still no comment from the experts here as to where this magical 20.15 was. State secret. Who ran the meet and who published the officail results.??

      • Great performance by Burgin in Turku 1 43.52 after a rather quick first lap. King beats his seasons best and Pozzi is back in 7th place. Waiting to hear from our resident know alls whether Pozzi is injured

        • Now we have discussions about if his top end speed can mix it with the top Americans. Unbelievable. What do you think; 19.6 or 19.7 which Gemili has never approached. Wow !!!

I believe he could break the UK record of John Regis. If he sneaks a medal at that level Is be delighted for him. His best seems to have been run with negative wind and poor weather. Probably worth 19.93. He deserves a break....maybe the 20.15 at the Boys meet won't make the rankings but let's see what happens at the UK Champs. Am still a believer!

He was 4th at 2019 Worlds but I think Sprintfan that the event has moved on in the last year or so. A British record would not have won a medal in Tokyo and I don't think it will this year either. Low key race or whatever the 20.15 suggests the raw speed is there at least. He could make a final at Worlds and Adam is good at performing well at champs when his hamstrings co-operate. He can certainly get medals in Birmingham & Munich.

        • Ellie Baker seasons best of 2.00.66 in the 800m. Jenny Meadows said she is coming back from injury which I did'nt know.

Over in Berne Jenny Selman with a new outright outdoor pb 2.00.86

Other British results from that Berne meeting:

Alex Knibbs continues his comeback in the men's 400m hurdles, with a 5th place finish and a 50.16 SB, a significant improvement on his 50.46 in Geneva three days ago.

Zoey Clarke, following on from he recent PB, ran another sub 52 second 400m, coming 3rd in 51.56. Also in the race was Hannah Williams and following a 52.88 in Geneva on Saturday, she shaved a decent chunk off that season's best with a 52.35 time for 5th.

I saw Adam posting about it on his social media which included a screenshot of the results.

Adam Gemili on Twitter: "It’s hard to explain the feeling I have right now. My fastest 200m opener ever. A long time coming after a really frustrating series of races recently. There’s still life in these old legs. Thanks to all those who’ve stuck with me these last few seasons. Time to keep pushing on! https://t.co/Hvaux1aEm7" / Twitter

His Instagram post on the same result had a location of Jacksonville so I presume the race took place there (that's where his training group is based). As you keep banging on about it I thought I'd do a little detective work. Milesplit results are used on results for loads of US meets, googled them and the search results were coming up for a number of US states so clicked on the Florida one. The link below is the first page that came up:-

              Florida Outdoor Race Results (milesplit.com)

The top meeting listed was for Jacksonville on 12th June - click on this and scroll through the results and you'll see the one that includes Xie Zhenye; Adam and Akeem Bloomfield amongst others. Small headwind of 0.5 by the way.

Coach Miami Presents The Show Down 2nd Edition 2022 - Complete Boys Results (Raw) (milesplit.com)

This research took me about 3 minutes so not that difficult to find. Wonders of the Internet eh?

Does look like a low key Florida meet with mostly High School races so perhaps unsurprising if it's not feeding through to results sites as quickly as International meets. The old adage 'the most logical explanation is usually the correct one' applies here I guess. Certainly makes more sense than athletes making up results about themselves.

              • Trawling though the power of 10's I see that on the 4th June Jarmaine Coleman PB'ed in the steeplechase 8.28.56 nabbing a european and commonwealth qualifying mark into the bargain. Looking like we will have no-one in the mens chase at the worlds but potentially 3 at the euros. I say potentially because I think there is a quoto system in place and so quite a few athletes may miss out.

There are quotas for Commonwealth Games but not seen anything about quotas for Euros. Can't see any reference to it on the British Athletics selection document.

The UKA selection document states "Selections will be subject to the maximum entries as permitted by European Athletics.
A maximum of 3 athletes can compete per event" plus reigning Euro champions get a wild card.

I've seen mention of a quota in other sports. It's not entirely clear.

I think it just means that like World Athletics; European Athletics also have target entry numbers and entry lists will be topped up by World Rankings to reach the target number for each event.

As well as the Road to Oregon tool; there is also a Road to Munich with relevant info - https://www.european-athletics.com/c...lifying-system

Excellent 800 meter result for Muir as she continues to race herself into top shape. No question she will be sharp at the Championship Meets in July and August!

And she goes again in Oslo on Thursday! Big respect for Laura and going out there to race even when she knew she wasn’t yet in top shape.

                  • What is the fastest 800 ever run by a woman in the UK?

Trust Keely to spoil @paul's theory, LOL.
(I'm not sure I'd count Semenya. I am a big fan of her as a person, but under current rules I don't think she would have been eligible in 2017.)
...So I'm going to give it to Ajee Wilson. (Although Wilson was paced by three non-eligible runners! ...Gosh I do love the way athletics gets me thinking!) :-)

                  • Burgin looked stronger in the last 50, Van Diepen was closing on him with 200 to go but by the time he crossed the finish line he’d put another meter on him. I seriously hope his body holds up after that run, because he’s been a one and done man for the last few years. You’ve got to say the mens 800 hasn’t been particularly good this year, Korir in no form and Brazier only having raced once

Yes the men's 800 is looking wide open. It looks like the kind of event where making the final at the Worlds will still be quite tough, but, once you get there, it could be anyone's race.

                  • I'd love to have seen Laura's race last night. Is there video?
I see that everyone else in the race bar one set a PB. And a certain young guy called Matthew (U17) can now say he beat one of the greatest middle-distance runners our country has ever produced!
Whatever the advantage to the woman chasing the men, the advantage to the men not wanting to be caught by the woman is also very evident.

I've now seen the end of the race. And sure enough Matthew, while well down the field, stills ends his run with a strong sprint and dip at the line. Laura is a step or two behind. Looking absolutely frikkin awesome. 😊
