Jess Judd wins the women's 10,000m A race in the Night Of 10,000m PBs in Highgate, running 31:22.25, inside the WC qualifying standard (which she already had), but made sure of selection by winning this race. Amy Eloise Markovc came back through to get 2nd, just outside the 31:25.00 WC standard with 31:25.57, but well under the EC Q time, while Samantha Harrison, who looked like the winner when pulling away from the leading pack with 10 laps to go, was rewarded for her brave efforts with a massive PB of 31:30.63, well over a minute faster than she'd ever run and a EC and CWG qualifying time.

farahs the best runner we have ever produced, better than coe and ovett combined, doubtful we will see another one of those for about another 40 years, marc scott is 2nd all time behind farah on the 5000 and 10000 list , on times its a fair comparison particularly in the 5000 where he is only 4 seconds behind farahs time, added to that farah and scott have started to win things at a similar age, no ones expecting him to have as good a career as farah but if he is healthy i fancy him to pick up a couple of medals in the summer

Over in the PAC-12 Championships in Hayward Field, Oregon, Temi Ojora, 4th placer in the triple jump at the European U20 Champs in Tallinn last year, came 3rd in the long jump with a best of 6.12m (+1.7m/s), just off the 6.16m PB she set on May 1st. On Sunday, she'll be in her main event.
Her older brother Tade Ojora, 4th in the European U23s over the 110m hurdles in 2021, was also in action tonight, winning his heat over the high hurdles in 13.95 (+1.4m/s).

In California last night, after running a windy 23.53 (+2.5m/s) 200m, Victoria Ohuruogu then lowered her lifetime best over the 400m with a 51.35 winning time, which also happens to equal the WC qualifying standard!
Women's 400m running continues to strengthen, while the renaissance of the younger Ohuruogu sister's career is truly remarkable. It must be remembered that up until last year, when she'd run her-then PB of 51.99 in August, she had never run under 52 seconds before, and the last she had run sub 53 seconds, had been in 2014 as a 21 year old!

In Belfast Yesterday a couple of athletes posted some early season markers. Ethan Hussey after only running the 1500m heats at the BUCS championships in 4.04 went sub 3.43 to get the world U20 standard. He was interviewed afterwards and has been getting some warm weather training in three seperate one month stints. He was ranked 38th overall last year but I am expecting big things this year.
Also competing was Alexandra Bell in her first outing of the year at 1500M who beat Jenny Selman convincingly in a burn up ending just outside 4.10. Alexandra's move up to 1500M seems to be gathering pace. She now has support from Adidas and has expressed the desire to go on competing at the highest level to "Paris & beyond".

It looks like Bell has taken one look at the gathering hordes on the domestic 800m scene (possibly added to by the likes of 18 year old Abigail Ives running like she did yesterday), and thought, much like Adelle Tracey did, that perhaps a move up to the (slightly!) less crowded 1500m might be a good career move.

I still remember the very young Judd narrowly beaten by one of the rocket-fuel assisted Russians in a big international 800, and thinking: dear Russian, after this get used to the sight of the back of Judd's vest, cos that's all you are going to be seeing from now on.
It didn't quite turn out like that. But it has been some journey with Judd. The absolute definition of a true athlete.
And by the way, despite having to dodge lapped runners like Abby Dow dodging tackles, she still finished the last lap at hyper-speed last night! Frickin' glorious!
And by the way by the way, to agree with several others, that camera on a bike thing is brilliant.

A slew of more good British performances as reported by Ian Hodge's Twitter....
Joshua Zeller's great 110m hurdles form on the NCAA circuit continues as he wins in a near-PB of 13.46 (+1.1m/s)....
Zoe Clark has her fastest ever opening 400m race, recording a time of 52.00, just outside the CWG qualifying standard....
Funminiyi Olajide, who crashed out of the European U20's long jump qualifying last year with 3 no jumps, adds 20cm to her PB with an impressive 6.48m (+1.0m/s) performance. That takes her to 3rd on in the UK this year and is just 2cm shy of the English CWG standard.
Further on Zoe Clark. After her 52.00 yesterday in Grangemouth, according to Ian Hodge, she has now improved again to 51.92, which is under the Scottish CWG qualifying time of 51.98. Well done!
That makes it four UK women who have run under 52 seconds so far this year (six if you include the times Amber Anning and Jessie Knight managed indoors.)Last edited by RunUnlimited; 15-05-22, 16:53.

Another promising LJ from a few weeks ago, Chisom Mwafor jumped 6.18. She's still an u17, and previous legal best was 5.85 last year. She was third in the England u17 heptathlon last year with 4718, but maybe LJ is going to be her event.
I think it puts her second in the world for u18s this year (but not sure how complete the WA listings are for this age group). It's also a qualifier for world junior champs.

@Occasional Hope
I think the reason her results haven't turned up on WA (or the European Athletics) site is due to their not having a wind reading logged with the attempt.
As for her potential as a multi eventer, its probably too early to tell still with her yet where she will go.

And an exciting one: Joe Harris improved his javelin pb to 79.53! He'd been in good form this year, but his previous best of 75.71 dates back to 2017.Last edited by Occasional Hope; 15-05-22, 14:45.

drobbie, the idea of competiton is to win, so Scott has nothing to offer versus Mo. As for times Mo has several 26 minutes plus times in tough globals with the top Africans, and Scott has only his March and April stuff via BTC time trials, i believe to give him any kudos, not any convincing victories against the top Africans. As for 5000m, Scott is way behind Mo, and your prediction for medals for him is in my opininion way over the top . He was beaten indoors in March in the last lap, and has done absolutely sweet nothing outdoors in major races, not to mention globals. He is the sort of athlete who
when he fails, talks about not being fit ; plenty of athletes like that around! Your posts about him suggest something I dont understand. Is he a relative, or perhsaps you coached him before he went to the States to live.

hes a very decent runner who is 2nd all time at both 5000 and 10,000 metres, already won a world bronze this year and should pick up a medal at the euros and potentially one at the commonwealths too, why do you expect numerous athletes to be like mo, when we have had one as good as him in our history?
