Overnight from the PAC-12 Championships (NCAA D1), Anna Purchase came 2nd in the hammer with a best of 68.93m, behind Canadian and fellow California University student, Camryn Rodgers' 73.71m winning effort.

In the decathlon, Ollie Thorner (who recently posted a substantial points PB of 7602 last month) ran the 100m (11.24 - 0.0m/s), jumped a best of 6.77m in the LJ, and threw the shot 13.05m, before no-heighting in the HJ, though he did run in the 400m with 49.90.

20 year old Charlotte Payne added 2m to her hammer PB today - Out to 69.58m, reported by Ian Hodge.

Gosh, what is going on with our female hammer throwers? Great to see.

That moves her up from 10 to 4 on the UK all time list, and still only no 3 this year .

Super stuff! The national championships are going to be so competitive.

Really nice live stream from Highgate. For the first time, they've got a camera-bike following the leaders and a proper on-screen clock with exact splits showing, not the amateur hour stuff Vinco usually specialise in.

Rebakah Walton continues to be consistently around the mid-50m range for the javelin, coming 2nd at the Mid Summer Track Night meeting in Vienna, with a best effort of 54.54m coming in round 4.

(Also competing in the competition was former 2018 WU20 javelin champion, and former EU18 and EU20 heptathlon champion Alina Shukh (UKR) who managed a best of 47.92m. She last completed a full heptathlon in 2020 - where she scored a very respectable 6386 points - and it looks like the Ukrainian, who is still just 23, might be moving to specialize in the javelin these days.)

The likely reason for the improved standard of coverage is because Vinco appears to be piggybacking off the feed provided by the BBC, who are also covering the event. lol

That's equal 7th place on the all time British u20 list, equal with Diane Modahl.

Faster than Keely at the same age and she is only a year 1 in the U20 agegroup.

Occasional Hope A slight correction on my part, Ives ran 2:02.02, so that would place her in 8th place on the UK U20 all time list, just behind Modahl. Still, a great effort from her.

Bayley Campbell cracking 70m in the hammer for the first time with 70.15 making him the 8th Brit over 70 this season.

Apparently Iris Downes also got the qualifying time.

She did indeed. Downes, who turns 17 in July, had already hacked over 3 seconds off her 800m PB just 3 days ago with a 2:05.64 at the BMC Gold Standard Races in Birmingham University, which was both a EU18 and EU20 lead at the time (as well as a qualifying time for the EU18s). Today, she improved again, this time by over a second, as she crossed the line in 3rd behind Boffey and Ives in 2:04.44!

That time from Downes is just behind what a certain Keely Hodgkinson managed as a 16 year old (2:04.26) before she went on to win the 2018 EU18 Championship gold.

Oliver Dustin looked a bit rusty in his season debut. No such worries for Ben Pattison who took the win in a confident run.

LuckySpikes Indeed, a poor run from Dustin.

However, I will remind folks that back in the UK U20/U23 Championships in Bedford back in 2019, Dustin faded badly in trying to keep pace with Max Burgin's amazing British junior record front run... but a month later, Dustin was crossing the line in first place in the European U20's as part of the British 1-2-3 in Boras.
I wouldn't count the young man out just yet.

BTW, for those wondering what Ben Pattison's finishing time was, he clocked 1:45.44, taking 3/10ths off his PB in his first 800m race of the year. A good start for Ben and a EC and English CWG qualifying time to boot.

I wonder if we're going to see Max Burgin this year.

Great run by Matt Stonier to win the Emsley Carr Mile in a massive PB.

A great race, and easily the biggest win in Stonier's life.... The stunned look on his face in the aftermath said it all! 3:54.89 was his time btw, 2/100ths ahead of the far more favoured Piers Copeland.

A very brave attempt by Samantha Harrison, but great run by Jess Judd and good from Amy-Eloise too.

That 31:30.63 from Harrison catapults her up to 10th on the UK all time list for 10,000m btw.

That was a brilliant Women's race. Congrats, Jess Judd !

That camera view really gives you the impression of how fast they're going.

Did Markovc get the standard? Very close.

Sam Harrison sub- 31:30 ? Sarah Inglis 31:39. Good stuff.

EDIT: Oh no, for Amy-Eloise. Half a second outside!!

But she did get a Euro standard, as did Harrison and a couple of others.
