Dina Asher Smith started the best, but was overhauled by Elaine Thompson Herah, Sha'carri Richardson and Shericka Jackson by the line in the Diamond League 100m, though she did run a season's best of 10.98 (+0.8m/s)Comment

At yesterday's GP Cantones de A Coruña, outside of the global championships the most prestigious of all the Race Walking meetings, Heather Lewis had a very nice race finishing 13th (over 20km) out of 53 starters. However, none of the other 7 Brits competing did much at all (including Bosworth) and, in fact, only 3 of them finished!
In very warm conditions many of the women outside the top five were 4, 5 or more minutes outside their PBs and almost 40% of the field DNF'd. So, it's to the great credit of pasty Welsh lass Heather that she was only 2:54 outside her PB set 7 weeks ago in Podebrady. Even though her best is 3:02 outside the WCh standard, she's developed really good consistency meaning that she sits fairly comfortably within the World Rankings quota for Eugene. I think there's only 1 significant competition left (next weekend in Slovakia) before the season shuts down until Eugene and that's highly unlikely to affect the rankings enough that Heather would get shunted out of the quota. So, I hope British Athletics accept her invitation. She'll have deserved it for her efforts.
2012 Olympic champion * Shijie Qieyang (CHN) has been the dominant force on the World Race Walking Tour this year, fairly closely followed by Peru's Kimberly Garcia and they went 1-2 in this race with Maria Perez (ESP) completing the podium.
* Qieyang was awarded the Olympic title after the recent disqualification of the Russian winner for you-know-what.
In the Men's race European Champion Alvaro Martin (ESP) got the better of a close battle with compatriot Diego Garcia who was also 2nd in the Madrid 10km two weeks ago. Brazil's Caio Bonfim, the winner in Podebrady, was 3rd.Last edited by LuckySpikes; 30-05-22, 00:18.Comment

A GB result missed in all the hubbub of the Prefontaine Classic, Gotzis, Bedford and the zillion other athletics meets last weekend was Scott Lincoln continuing his winning streak as he won the shot put event in Thum, Germany. 20.59m was his winning effort, with another two throws over 20m, and all of them would have won this competition. he was lucky enough, lets be honest, in any other place than the country that has ignored the start rules, he would have been in the dressing. On the other hand he does extremely well to conquer the main hardship of being autistic and that is anxiety levels which goes up in the starting blocksComment
