They should still take Sawyers to Belgrade despite her SB being well done on what she is capable of, her major championship record is commendable

I have to say, British Athletics really needs to sort out its timetable for champs. I love athletics, but the coverage is extremely dull, far too drawn out. If you're limiting athletes to a single event, why not do heats & semi's on a long friday session that is shown online for proper fans like us, then have a quickfire finals day that is properly televised and geared towards actually engaging the public and growing the sport?

I would have the long session on a Saturday. Many athletes at these champs will need to work or attend education on a Friday while many officials have to go to work. While people may take leave or skip a class to catch up you tend not to want to do that too often.

      Well run by Copeland.

He is always a danger when it comes to the finish.

I did think Hannah's pre-race confidence in Neil Gourley was a bit misplaced and unwarranted ... "Neil Gourley can win this any way he wants" ...

Quite impressive that Copeland's 3:36.12 only ranks him 5th in the UK this winter.

It will always make me double take seeing Shaunna Thompson, former teenage star sprinter in the mid-late 2000's (indeed, a former Commonwealth Youth champion in the 100m and 200m as a 16 year old in 2008 - also finished 4th (100m) and 5th (200m) at the World Youth Championships and 5th in the European Juniors 200m in 2009), lining up as a shot putter these days.

Snap! Great respect to her for sticking with the sport and finding an event.

On a side note I’ve enjoyed seeing Victoria Ohoroughu and Jenny Selman rolling back the years this weekend, VO first made the team at the 2014 WIC in Sopot

Fantastic womens 400! Chuffed for Jessie Knight to get the win, and a 52.42 PB for Keely despite running most of the last lap very wide. Great running from all the girls.

What are we predicting Keely could do outdoors? I'll say somewhere between 50.8-51.2, and I'd definitely give her a shot leading off the English 4x4 at commies.

I wouldn't run her on first. As an 800 specialist she should gain more from a flying start than the others.

In case anyone's wondering Keely Hodgkinson's official 200 PB according to Power of 10 is 26.5 in a Northern League club race 4 years ago. Of course she's running a lot quicker through the first 400 here.

Great time for AHW, but that was quite a tight takeover...

It's a tricky one if he gets DQ'd he loses a qualifier.

Good running from AHW, but I'd be grumpy if I was Tom Somers.

              Yeah, I think it's DQ-worthy TBH.

                FWIW I agree.

Now DQ. I do feel sorry for him, but it was his own fault.

While lane 6 on a 6 lane indoor track does tend to be quickest, I have often thought that lane 5 might be preferable in the 400 as from there it tends to be easier to get to the inside in the lead after the break. If your in lane 6 you need to get a bit more of a lead to break cleanly and not have to run further than 400m.

Right decision. But probably bad for "the future of the sport" or something like that.

Also worth mentioning Sophie McKinna smashing the championship best set in 1996 with her opening throw in the shot put final, 18.82m!

That must have been Judy Oakes very near the end of her career.

Yes it was, although I forgot that she went to the Sydney Olympics in 2000, about 24 years after her British debut!

Laura Zialor timed out on a High Jump. I've seen it a few times on PV but not HJ.
