On World Athletics, European Athletics results etc, AR means Area Record. On American websites AR is often used instead of NR to denote an American Record. Often the American Record is also the Area Record, as it in Nilsen's case (Kendricks has, of course, gone higher outdoors). Jeff Hartwig also jumped 6.02 indoors but it was never ratified (dunno why).

1:45.12 NR & WL for Mario Garcia Romo (ESP) at the NB Gold meeting. That's 3 wins for Spain tonight!

      That's a 2.8s outright PB for him!!

BBC & Uk athletics love each other again.

The BBC is confirmed as UK Athletics' (UKA) broadcast partner for the 2022 Major Event series.

I'd describe it more as after a break up, they are giving things another go for a trial period. A 1 year deal with events on Red Button/Website only - not great overall visibility for the sport & doesn't really feel like it's going to put the sport on a better financial footing long term. Would be interesting to know what the Financial terms are for this.

Also the World Indoor Tour & Diamond League will obviously be the World Athletics feed but I also wonder what the production will be like for the domestic championships. Better than the Youtube effort for the Olympic trials last year one hopes.

Your assessment is correct: hope that the world champs, commonwealth games t and f are on main channels bbc 1 or 2

The USA have a new guy in the 800, the moustachioed Shane Streich. He looks well capable of contending for US teams.

Last weekend at the Dr Sander meeting in NY he ran 1:46.07 and then this weekend he broke Bryce Hoppel's NR in the 1000 with 2:16.16 at the Eastern Indoors meeting in Kentucky. Ireland's Luke McCann broke Marcus O'Sullivan's NR in that race with 2:17.40.

Nice to see a strong run for Lore Hoffman (SUI) on Saturday, winning in Metz with 2:01.25. Femke Bol improved her own 400m Meeting Record there with a 50.72 WL. As usual Lieke Klaver (in a different section final) went out crazy quick (23.67 at 200) and again got hit badly by the lactic sniper, running 52.49. I have no idea why she doesn't try going out in something like 24.5 instead. Femke Bol hit halfway in 24.33.

In Dortmund 7 men got under the World Indoor standard (3:39.00) in the 1500, including 3 Germans. Isaac Nader (POR) won in 3:36.64, just outside his iPB set in Sabadell a few days ago. George Mills ran a 3:38.96 iPB in 7th place.

In case anyone is unaware, World Athletics have a pretty good results service these days via https://worldathletics.org/competiti...endar-results?

I think I remember an interview with her or her coach along the lines of “they’ve tried and this is her best strategy for overall times…”

Maybe she tires almost as much running slowly as she does running fast?

3 Vukovic 1.96 - indoor Montenegran Record and had a really close 3rd attempt at 1.99

Entry lists for Thursday's Gold meeting in Liévin - https://meetinglievin.com/Wolrld-Ind...2-au-15fev.pdf

I'd say that over the last few years this has become the best indoor meeting in the world.

8:23.24 WL for Dawit Seyaum in the 3000 at Lievin. She's definitely back! Second was Ejgayehu Taye, 8:26.77.
