Brilliant run by Berihu Aregawi, just failing to take down Komen's WR with 7:26.20. Mechaal 2nd with a 7:36.57 PB.

Anna Belasenka? ... Jenny clearly doesn't know the Polish for sausage!

Ha ha, it turns out she has 4 different pronunciations for Kielbasinska ! The third one was closest.

Wisely settled on “the Polish athlete”

I love Jenny's enthusiasm, but she really mangles the names.

Damn. Can’t be many people who can match Jean-Marc Pontvianne’s record of xxxxx in the TJ!

At least he was saved by the Final 3 format from having the ultimate embarrassment of SIX fouls!

Ugh! Over at the Millrose Games in New York, Christian Coleman just about pips Trayvon Bromell to the line in the men's 60m, his first big race since returning from his 18 month suspension.... 6.49.

Incredible stuff from Crouser! The first person to throw the shot over 23 meters indoors... and on top of that, he's actually gone further than his outdoor WR distance!

Well, apparently it was not measured correctly after all. But it says something about Crouser that it was credible

If you haven't got a shot put circle and an area for the shot to land in and be measured, perhaps DON'T hold a shot put contest there.

Ha! I did think it looked a bit odd on the 60 m track.

that SP was no more a 23.38m WR than i am a monkeys uncle; second time this year US officials screwed up after the so called 14.76 that was actually 13.76 a week ago for the womens Triple Jump by Orji?? No way did that shot go out 76 metres, and the posters who were actually there by the shot know it.No reaction from the crowd or Crouser; wonder what rubbish officiating we might see in July ??

A few good WLs but nothing much in the way of heart stopping stuff, but after all its only January. All the stuff about Mu was the usual silly hype, in an event that is a little too far for her.EPSP looked full of running and we read that her disappointing run at Tokyo was a result of injury just after the OG Trials last year,
Kerr overtook Hoare at the wrong time, but 3.52 and Scottish record in January is excellent.
Great finish by Beamish; it would be great to see a NZ athlete really come on big this season.

Yeah, I was surprised that Kris Temple & Jenny Meadows also got in on the act, leading the start of the stream with "the intriguing prospect of Athing Mu in the Mile" rather than hyping the prospect of a battle between Purrier, Klosterhalfen, Hull & Norris who all have very similar outdoor 1500 PBs.

Continue to be unimpressed by Temple and Meadows.Did anyone else have weird double sounds for the first hour of the broadcast.?

Kris Temple is OK. I like Jenny a lot as a person but I'm not sure she's cut out for this commentary lark. The funny noises were from the American TV broadcast - perhaps caused by all the snow they had?

Well, I got up in the middle of the night to watch the Osaka Women's Marathon and, oh boy, I really got it wrong on 3 counts in my teaser notes in the Live Streaming Links thread!

                    a) Mizuki Matsuda is definitely back in form - she won in 2:20:52, a 55s PB and now #5 Japanese all-time, just behind Mao Ichiyama. For a while she had a sniff at Mizuki Noguchi's 2:19:12 NR but struggled a bit in the last 12km. She was in tears at the end and it seemed it's some sort of redemption for her after losing her Tokyo Olympic place to Ichiyama in heartbreaking fashion.

                    b) I said that the Japanese depth on the startlist probably wasn't as strong as previous years but actually 7 Japanese women ended up running 2:25:35 or better! I can't imagine that's ever happened for any nation in one race other than Kenya & Ethiopia. Four women ran under Japan's 2:23:18 Eugene standard (!), all with 2 or 3 minute PBs.

                    c) Sayaka Sato did not improve! She was 6th, 1m 20s outside her PB, after being on 2:22:40 pace for much of the race.

You were right; the equipment was miscalibrated & the result has been annulled.

What surprised me was that Cliff must have noticed that the putt that was very briefly shown, clearly was miles off world record,,: sadly tv commentators are scared off using common sense.
they all a little brainwashed by the editors, or people lwho know very little about our sport,I suspect.
