Are our 4x4 women going to get out of that heat with that team? It seems 50-50 to me. Maybe a fastest loser spot?

Five of them over 4.50 first time.

As long as they get at least 4th place! If they come 5th they will need 3:24.76.

Possibility of Kaczmarek coming in for Poland?

Stunning last 100 by Veitia for Cuba in heat 1 of the 4x4.

Stefanidi clears at the third attempt. Early nerves I guess.

As does Nageotte. That would've been a real disaster for the US

        • #67
Nageotte is struggling, that's a surprise. But she looked a lot better on the third attempt.

Opening height jitters are quite common in PV but more so when athletes come in well after the competition starts.

The Poles have such a strong tradition in the 4X400m. Would it be the end of the world if their team ever underperformed in a championship??

was that changeover ok? Laviai looked a bit far over.

We were 3rd at 200 so she was in the right position.

yes, Yeargin really showed determination, even though they didn't need the 'big Q' in the end ... will be very, very tough to medal.

Yeargin held off Bol on the line, well done.

Good finish by Yeargin to pass Canada and hold off the charging Bol. As it happens all 3 got through. Just means we might get lane 8 out of 9 if we're lucky!

3:23.99 without Jodie and Ama is decent.

Really good work. Will be interesting the splits. I'd have thought Williams in for Clark, but we'll see.
Potential for a medal, but the POles are obvs in very good shape, and the Cubans have come from nowhere.
                    Stefanidi looks rusty

I attempted splits off the TV (I am a qualified timekeepr) and my estimates are 51.6-51.1-50.7-50.6.

I suspect Williams and Pipi will come in for Diamond and Clark?

Where are the splits published? Expected to be able to find them. Yeargin ran very well
