Will Kat make it through the day?

I'd be happier with Jodie in SF3 but if she gets a good time, who knows.
    What's your pick for the men's 200?

I don't know! It seems very open. De Grasse looked best in the semis, Bednarek has looked great all season, or can Lyles get back to his best after a subpar start to the competition, or the teenager Knighton another PB to surprise us?

I think Jodie could well finish 2nd in that semi. She’s beaten Klaver, Jonathas was beaten by McPherson by a greater margin in their last race, McGergor’s standout PB was set in the warm climes of the Jamaican trials, compared to Jodie’s in Gateshead, having run a 22.60 200m (fastest of all those ladies) an hour before…

While SMU is another matter, I do think that Jodie has a reasonable chance of coming 2nd or 3rd in a time that would give her a great shot at going through.

Anybody thinking the w400mh WR will go today? Just have a gut feeling. Saw a post somewhere about the weather being perfect for Warholm to break the record with it not being too hot. Not sure if conditions are conducive to breaking a WR today (approx 32 Celsius and dry).

I’d say there’s a very good chance. SMc won’t have looked to peak for the US Champs and DM was coming back from injury and illness. Bol is the big question mark - can she keep taking chunks off - she did look very easy in the rounds!

I think there will be at least two athletes under the 400h world record, with the KJT rollercoaster as an aperitif. I'll go with these marks for Kat(if she finishes) 13.30, 1.87, 13.00, 23.40, 6.40, 41.00, 2.13.

Such a shame she’s not had the prep, as this track would have suited her down to the ground, and probably seen her set PBs in all running events

Damian Warner starts the decathlon by equalling his world decathlon best of 10.12.

                        KJT opens with a decent 13.27 100H.

Vetter struggling in the JT qualifying.

Promising for KJT. If she's fit but not at 100% potential (ie like Dasher rather than Gemili), I still think she's good enough for a minor medal. Lots of 'ifs' mind.

Vetter saves his bacon in the 3rd round with 85.64.

That's a huge relief ! Would have been the shock of the games had he bombed out in qualifying !

KJT will be pretty happy with that start to her day. Will know more after the HJ of course.

If I had a pound for every time a TV commentator incorrectly introduces an athlete with the country code BUR as Burundi instead of Burkina Faso I would be doing very nicely thank you!
