Purrier only 6th in 4:01.00 but could go through.
. Nice to see after so much fearful negativity. Soon be back to the DL and who knows what we may see.

Of course Murphy ran even more stupidly in the final

I was very impressed by Jodie Williams post race interview, she is going into that final with the mentality that she can win a medal. Realistically it will be a tall order but she has done incredibly well considering this is her first time running the 400 at a global championships. Paulinho was impressive, there is a chance Uibo could leave this championships with out a gold from her two events
Thoroughly enjoyable hammer throw final, even if Fajdek had performed to his best he still wouldn’t have beaten Nowicki, that’s how good he was. 80m throw only came 4th, very high standard

What time does Kipyegon have in mind for the final? The OR is easily in her grasp. The WR maybe not, after the rounds? Any slower than 3:54 and Muir will come into the equation.

Honestly, I think Kipyegon wins with a fair bit in hand whether they run 3.52 or 4.12. She's just that good imo, massively underappreciated. If Hassan couldn't beat her in a one off diamond league, I don't see how she can with two 5ks and two 1500s in her legs.Last edited by Christy93; 04-08-21, 17:44.

Turning to tomorrow, who will be top dog in the 400m; i picked Norman but i think it will not be there. Cherry may be the best American. Gardiner for me .Have a feeling a def medal for Zambrano.

I like the AW description of the men's 800 final: Kenyan one-two in disappointing Olympic 800m final - AW (athleticsweekly.com)
That semi-final run was preceded by a quite farcical 400m heat in the morning where he exhibited acting not seen since the likes of ITV’s Crossroads in the 1960s as he pretended to accidentally false start so he could focus on the 800m.

If she gets her tactics right and doesn't suffer any interference I reckon she will. Arguably is due a change of luck in a major outdoor event. Crossed fingers , eh ?

Just going to say, that men's 200 m final featured the 5th, 6th and 8th fastest times ever recorded at an Olympic Games. Only the one and only Usian Bolt (2008 - 19.30, 2012 - 19.32) his Jamaican team mate, Yohan Blake (2012 - 19.44) and Michael Johnson (1996 - 19.32) have run faster. A great race.
