Fadjek lands an 81.53, but realistically I don't think miller has beyond what he's done in him today - they've all been consistently around the same mark

Rudy Winkler, massive disappointment from the big American hope in the hammer. He'll finish behind Nick Miller.
Winkler, it must be remembered, the guy who broke the US record with an 82.71 at, you guessed it, the US Trials. Another one with massive distances in the States who flatters to deceive when it comes to the major champs. Only managed a best of 77.08..... oooof.Last edited by RunUnlimited; 04-08-21, 13:24.Comment

He'd have needed a huge British Record for Bronze - his 4th best comp ever, and if he'd thrown that in London 2017 (when he was also 6th) he'd have been a Bronze medallist there. Hopefully he can put his injury issues to bed and have a big next few years, and sneak a medal at a major.👍 2Comment

Gold and bronze for Poland, silver to the young Norweigan. Very good competition. Unless you're AmericanComment

24.90 for Thiam. I'm gonna say it, I think KJT would have beaten her if she hadn't ruptured her achilles. Such a shame. Hopefully Paris will be better for KJT, and fingers crossed she has a few young teammates with her. (Where is Emerson? Still injured?)👍 1Comment

There is no doubt in my mind that KJT, fully fit, would be winning a gold here in Tokyo. Before she pulled up in the 200 m, Kat was heading for a low 23, to high 22 second run, having had her second best ever hurdles and 3rd or 4th best shot put, coupled with a middling high jump.... and that's with a wonky Achilles!
What a dang shame.
Next year, I'm hoping to see a fully fit KJT, Emerson and a developing Mills turning up to scare the bejesus out of the Commonwealth games competitors. -
I think there are a lot of what ifs, Thiam doesn't look in top shape and has her her injury issues as well as KJT having hers. It's a shame that we weren't able to see them both at their best going at it full tilt. I think overall though the Hept has been an interesting competition. Vidts has been great with a clutch of PB's from today and likely probably will have some tomorrow too, she has a really good 800 certainly better than Vetter and Thiam which might come in handy. Vetter has put herself into a strong position for a medal. Kunz has a good second day with no real weak event of the three. Looks wide open going into day 2. Thiam has the pedigree but others look to be fitter and in better form so looks like anything could happen.

Easily our best thrower, male or female, but still only no2 in the British rankings this year….
Taylor Campbell will have learned from the experience and hopefully will kick on towards Miller territory next year.Comment

And that’s only his 2nd comp in 2 years so he must be rusty. The other was 78.08 do there’s clearly more 80+ in the tank.

Taylor Campbell will be back and hopefully knocking on that 80 m line in the coming season or two.Comment
