Gemili pulls up straight out of the blocks

Poor Adam, his face beforehand said it all. He looked gutted before he even started. 4x1 is massively up against it now. Knighton looks like a freakish talent.

OK officially Disaster Day as Gemili pulls up instantly... WTF ?

Not just for GB though as Spotakova is out of javelin qualifiers.

Kilty and Prescod are both there. Personally I'd go Ujah, Hughes, Kilty and Prescod in that order. Keeps Prescod's changes down to one and keeps both him and Hughes away from false starts.

NMB didn’t look great either. Not sure I’d trust Prescod after that false start and he doesn’t have much exchange experience

I'm beginning to think that someone on the GB athletics team broke a mirror whilst running over a black cat as they were walking underneath a ladder.

NMB well back but he may actually get through. Bednarek an easy looking 20.01.

NMB's the 3rd FL at the moment. So no leeway; just has to hope the last heat is sloooooow.

The poor lad gets no luck at all. He looks broken, hard to see that.

Apart from Neita's excellent PB in the 100 m and making it into the final, it's been a shocking championships for GB in the shorter sprints for both women and men.

When a couple of OKish runs from Beth Dobbin put her in contention as our 2nd best performer relatively speaking it's not good.

I think NMB out of the FLs?

Lad from Swaziland got DQed, appealed, and has been put back just in time to be added to the final heat. That's a new one!

I haven’t seen the incident but if it was a harsh DQ they did the right thing putting him in another heat. Some good quick thinking

He noticeably twitched on the blocks but didn't actually jump. I was surprised it was revoked. Not particularly upset as I don't like to see athletes kicked. More a comment on the officating than anything else. As ever they seem to be very strict on some things and very much not on others.

NMB misses out on FL spot by 0.03.

Let's never talk about these Olympics again...

Jasmin Sawyers a respectable 8th in the LJ. Reese may regain her title.

And another of my speculative GB top 6 predictions goes down, with Sawyer missing top 6 by 4cm. In fairness, 8th isn't a terrible result for her in this kind of field.

That last jump would have maybe got her up there, unfortunately she just went for a bit too much but decent showing. What do you reckon that would have measured at if it got a White Flag.
