Both Czech athletes - Maki & Mezulianikova - through to the semis with big Qs and PBs. Can Simona Vrzalova make it 3 out of 3?

I will still want to watch it , of course. But it will be with a heavy heart as I was so looking forward to see Dina measuring herself against the other great sprinters. Will have to wait until the WC now...

Yep, confirmed. Brutal after a PB.

Well done, Katie Snowden. Nice run for Nozomi Tanaka, improving her NR by 1.7s to 4:02.33.

Katie Snowden is through to the semi-final, qualifying automatically in the top 6 with a PB of 4:02.87. Kipyegon wins it with ease.... Unfortunately, Walcott Nolan misses out by 1/100th of a second.

In percentage terms that might be the narrowest elimination of the champs.

Kipyegon wins with ridiculous ease and strolls off while the others lie around on the track . Formidable.

PB and qual for Snowden. Though Walcott-Nolan has missed out on times by a hundredth of a second...despite her PB. Bit unlucky but like most of the British women so far she has fully justified her place in the team.

We do all agree that a PB in the Olympics is a pass , do we not ?

Yes, even I will take that 😂 disappointed for her, not with her

Lovely to see Peleteiro on the podium. We could do with a Cuban jumps coach or two over here.

3 times in 14 meetings. Last time was Zurich in 2016 but they have only met 6 times since then.

Nowicki casually tosses out the hammer out to 79.78 m to auto qualify for the final.

Yeah it's an absolute shambles that we lack any representation in so many big Athletics events. Why are our athletes still seemingly incapable of hitting qualifying distances/times to make major championships. Feel like this has been the case for long as I can remember.

The only shambles here is the M400m, and McColgan messing up the 5000m. Having some athletes miss finals is to be expected.

Worth bearing in mind that there are more tightly controlled numbers at this Olympics.

She could break Flo-Jo's WR if she learns how to start & run the bend. Think they'll have widened restrictions by then though.

Whoops! Shericka Jackson has most likely shot herself in the foot now... I don't know *what* she was doing there in that heat... ambled around the turn, dawdled down the straight, and then eased down on the line... and got taken by Bazolo.... I think she is out.

                        Big surprise that!

More like 34 hours as they did have Sunday off.

D'oh! Of course, good point Trickstat. Still, Jackson's run was just strangely done.

At least ET-H remembered to inject a brief spurt in the home straight. Jackson was shockingly lackadaisical.
