I am twice your age run but you are so much wiser than me 😁😁

    • Sandra Perkovic's reign as DT champ is over without a medal.

And the US have their first gold of the champs! Well done to Allman

    • They seem to have called it quits in the PV so it'll be a big field. Morris - and I guess newman - the only big name casualties.

      • Well done allmam. Someone had to come through eventually.

The women's discus is a relatively unusual event for the US to break their duck with.

Not that she wasn't a decent shout for gold though.

      • Looks like they are taking all 15 who cleared 4.55 through in the vault which I think is sensible. It isn't a good idea to keep them out there further just to try to trim another 3 athletes from the final.

          • SMU lane 9 tomorrow which may be good for her, ETH is lane 7. What's your top 3?

              ETH-Mboma-SAFP I think.

ETH to win but I haven't a clue who will run the places.

I'm with Occasional Hope though think there's a chance Mboma could take it. She's knocked 0.7 off her pre-Olympic time. Basically hedging my bests. Hope it's Elaine and SAFP for Gold and bronze but who knows? Favourites falling like...

          • A complete toss up .SMU, SAFP, Mboma but ETH must be No.1

                Thank you all!

            • BBC has finally bothered to show the 5000 final. Hassan looked supreme. Maybe the others could have gone harder earlier to run it out of her, but I'm not sure it would have changed the result.

Stefanidi SB 4.80. She could be in the mix but hasn't jumped as well as the other three this year.

Wish she was just doing the long distance double and then at least Laura may have had a shot at Silver, however looking at her previous Outdoor champs I worry about Bronze.

She is in the same semi so that'll be interesting. Hall and nanyondo the only others in it to break 4 minutes.

Oh dear, in my defence I had a 4 day old when the final was run, so may have been a bit out of it! No excuse for missing her this time though!

But you now have a rampaging toddler distracting you I imagine which seems an excellent excuse for anything

Ha good point! She actually came early, she was due mid October, and I’d finished work early with the plans of spending my last days of pregnancy chilling out watching the world champs - instead i was in hospital for 4 days of them!

              • The women’s pole vault could be a cracker, there’s barely anything between the top 4. Nageotte has jumped well this year but has never won a medal at a global champs, can she make the leap to gold in one fell swoop? Sidorova goes in as world champion and has a lot of success at major championships, but hasn’t hit the heights this year. Stefanidi is a great competitor and often produces her best at a champs. First time clearances are going to be crucial. Hollys got a fantastic chance

Cherry looks better of the Americans but I don't see either on the podium. Gardiner, James and Zambrano for me, not entirely sure of the order
