I really hope Miller has been staying out of the limelight because he’s preparing to uncork something massive and finally get a deserved medal….

I fear you may be a bit optimistic there.

I wonder if all the 100 medallists will show on the 200 start line.

I’d expect so. ETH with the chance to double, SAFP with the chance to redeem and SJ with the better chance of a silver or even gold.

I know it sounds pathetic but I don’t know I can watch the 200 😢

Not at all. I'll find it difficult to watch an event that a fully fit Dina would have excelled in, without her present.

Personally, I think she could have won gold or silver and run faster than the pre-2015 European 200 m record, but not quite as fast as Schippers' run in Beijing.

unfortunately the fact is that Dina Is an athlete whose legs have been a worry before and will again; great that everything went perfect in Doha.

partly a sign of how little outstanding talent we have.

Partly, but I’ve also followed Dina’s career since her junior days and she’s so deeply likeable

great stuff to look forward to; hope no nasty surprises. 1500m allows top six so not too tough; the mans 400m semis look very titillating

Don't tempt fate. Someone here hoped Zharnel wouldn't FS...

Nah, Holly will qualify fine. She's been good pretty much all season long and competitive, also setting that new British record at the Trials. And on top of that, the wind's have been pretty gentle inside the stadium so I think her usual worries about them will be not a factor.

Morning finals presumably thought up by the same rocket scientist who came up with the last round of DL field events.

I think it’s 2250 east coast time which is not ideal!

It is indeed 10:50pm. If it was like the swimming where there were multiple finals happening from about 9:30-11, I could understand it but I don't think US TV cares that much about 1 athletics final. If they were going to demand events to be changed, you would have thought they would want the 100m switched, for example.

Pawel Fajdek in trouble? He hardly even tried on his 2nd attempt and sits 9th in Group A.

76.93 for Nick Miller in Round 2. Auto Q is 77.50 so that should see him through.

The furthest ever thrown in the Olympics by a Brit.
