    Oh dear, rather a disappointing night/morning's work from the British team.

    400h: Meghan Beesley is possibly past her best, but she was lucky to get picked after a good run in the trials and a 2019 qualification time, and she wasn't massively far outside her SB even if she was way back in her field. She actually ran faster than Jess Turner who did qualify for the semis, just. Oh dear oh dear for Jessie Knight. The potential medallists all looked good.

    800: Moderate oh dear here, just because this was supposed to be one of our strong events. That first heat was ridiculously fast - who runs 1.43 in a first round? Elliott Giles was still a bit shellshocked in his post race interview, but his 3rd place was actually the 3rd fastest overall. Rowden just held on for 3rd in his heat, but says he is in PB shape, so hopefully can step it up in the semi. Oliver Dustin just looked awful. Rotich, Amos and Arop all looked really good, but is Rotich peaking at the wrong point? Dobek looked poor in a very busy race.

    100h: Cindy and Tiffany both just qualify in 4th place - a bit disappointing. Camacho-Quinn cemented her status as favourite for the title, and the Jamaicans Megan Tapper (12.53 pb) and Britany Anderson both looked really good. Lots of women in the 12.70s, inc Pia Skrzy** with a 12.75 pb.

    Nice to see Harry Coppell reach the PV final.

    Let's hope DAS and Daryll and the 800 girls shine later on.

        Oh dear, DAS only third in her semi with 11.05. Too slow for a fast loser spot?

        I didn't expect her to match her Doha silver in the 100 but I did expect her to make the final.

                As soon as Dina pulled out of races last month, you could feel this coming. She was underraced early in the season, then got injured and couldn't catch up. She didn't look easy in heats, as much as people on here said she did - Her action looked tight. I don't see her factoring in the 200 the way her form fell apart either. So sad for her.

                  Yes I didn’t think she was particularly easy in the heats - not if you compare to the Jamaicans. Also worth saying that phillipo was rounded on for saying she wasn’t racing enough…

                  @SprintRelayFan

                  I made the same point and got dismissed similarly. She has had injuries all year, poor girl.

                  @Trevorp

                  Rusty but also clearlt not fully fit 100%, no point beating around the bush

                  Christy93 Oh, absolutely. Your initial comment was spot-on.

                If she carries this form (more accurately, lack of) through the week, hurts our chances for anything like a reasonable medal haul on the track, you have to think. Not just both her individual event but also the relay.

                  I was thinking about the relay.
                  I don’t think she’s got a prayer of the 200, tbh if I was her I’d pull from that before she gets more injured

                Wow, the final may see a 10.6 or quicker - the women are doing something different this year - well the Nigerian definitely was!!! It seems like a fast track and no wind!

                    I know this is a bit late - but in the medley relay 4 x 400 = if you are in the men's or women 4 x 400 does that exclude you from the medley???

                      No wind -0.2 for Ahye, +0.3 for Daryll. Karma with a helping hand.

                      I am so pleased about that. Can’t stand ayhe so would’ve been happy whoever put her out, but delighted for daryll

                    Daryll just squeaks in ahead of Ahye as the second fast loser, with her second fastest time ever.

                    Who would have predicted two Swiss women in the final, and only one American and one Brit?

                        2 Swiss athletes and only 1 American in the final!

                        Also, Daryll Neita. Well done!
