I saw that too... Surely, if Gale has achieved the same height as the others, then even if it took more attempts, he should be qualifying with them

If he *hasn't* qualified, I hope the GB team management lodges a protest of some kind. That's an injustice if he's not in the final.

Okoye will now go off and do his own thing, come back in 2028 for the Olympics, as British no 1, richer than Croesus. Some might say today was karma.

He'll be about 36 then. Not that is particularly old for a discus thrower.

Alex Bell missed 3rd by 3/1000ths but comfortably made it on times.

Alex Bell was out of the auto Q by 0.003! Luckily no harm done.

Yeah, they updated it thankfully. Anger subsiding. And good news from both him and the 800m women after a shaky start to the day.

And all was right with the world again. Congrats to Gale for making the Olympic final.

Either way, it's not a good lookl to come to a major games and not even register a distance.
Okoye is mainly muscle, low on technique, NMs are more likely with that combination. I hope he sticks with the sport

3 no throws. Impressed ? his technique allowed some 60 plus throws this year so his performance was poor.

Frustratingly at the moment just under 63m is making the cut.

          Update - 62.93 was 12th.

DAS cruises through her 100m opener lets Teahna Daniels sidle past. She made the latter look a little ungainly.

I saw the last half on a split-screen replay on Eurosport. She was ahead and eased off she looked pretty good as far as I could tell.

I have had to flick between channels (BBC1 and Red Button 601) for the last hour, not knowing when they will cover the athletics, and then actually miss DASHERs race at 4.15 am ... and then you give me Colin Jackson's babble, thank you Beeb

Luckily I was on 601 at the time, but only because on my TV, 601 was about one second ahead of BBC1 (About 18 minutes of the same thing on both channels !! )

Yikes, 10.82 in a heat is sending a message 😳

Won't judge her on an eased down heat, but I've had my worries about Dina's ability to compete with the Jamaicans since I heard about her niggle.

Handy hint - it seems the results on the Olympics site doesn't do small qs while the ones on World Athletics do.
