    Scores for Days 5 & 6 (highest to lowest):

    Well, two contestants broke even on Part 1 this time. That's something!

    Walsh7 ... 0 + 48 + 35 = 83
    LuckySpikes ... - 16 + 44 + 34 = 62
    marra ... - 16 + 38 + 36 = 58
    Sovietvest ... 0 + 34 + 23 = 57
    MysteryBrick ... - 16 + 36 + 35 = 55
    philipo ... - 16 + 40 + 25 = 49
    MBChristie ... - 16 + 42 + 20 = 46
    Jogger ... - 16 + 44 + 15 = 43
    JamieSLA ... -32 + 36 + 37 = 41
    Ladyloz ... - 32 + 38 + 27 = 33
    LoveSprints1 ... - 48 + 36 + 41 = 29
    Laps ... - 32 + 28 + 29 = 25
    Jnathletics ... - 32 + 30 + 25 = 23
    oxfan ... - 16 + 24 + 15 = 23
    carterhatch ... - 32 + 26 + 25 = 19

    Contest standings after day 6

    Fifteen of our 24 Part 2 & 3 events are complete (I miscounted when previously saying 14).

    Taffy2 missed off the Part 3 winning marks for 3 events and no-one noticed (myself included, apologies). Therefore, like for oxfan above, I am minded to award Taffy2 extra points at the end of the contest (based on his/her average for the other 21 Part 3 events). However, because one of the missed events was the Men's 400 Hurdles and no-one won any points in Part 3 for that (!), the extra points will be for two missed events, not three.

    OK, onto the scores so far. Walsh7 is running away with it and it looks like the rest of us are squabbling for the minor medals! As usual, the 3 numbers before your total represent, in order, your Part 1, 2 & 3 scores. In the comments for this post I have included the scores for the last 2 days.

    1 Walsh7 ... - 16 + 100 + 99 = 183
    2 LuckySpikes ... - 32 + 88 + 85 = 141
    3 philipo ... - 64 + 92 + 94 = 122
    4 Laps ... - 48 + 74 + 89 = 115
    5 Sovietvest ... - 32 + 78 + 68 = 114
    6 MBChristie ... - 48 + 82 + 77 = 111
    7 Ladyloz ... - 64 + 84 + 81 = 101
    8 LoveSprints1 ... - 64 + 84 + 74 = 94
    9 marra ... - 96 + 86 + 102 = 92
    10 Jogger ... - 64 + 90 + 60 = 86
    11 JamieSLA ... - 96 + 76 + 94 = 74
    12 MysteryBrick ... - 96 + 74 + 85 = 63
    13 oxfan ... - 48 + 58 + 51 = 61 (that's your 4 missed events completed and you still have some Part 2 & Part 3 points to be added at the end, as per post #67)
    14 Taffy2 ... - 80 + 84 + 52 = 56 (you still have some Part 3 points to be added at the end, as per above)
    15 Occasional Hope ... - 80 + 60 + 67 = 47
    16 Jnathletics ... - 80 + 64 + 62 = 46
    17 carterhatch ... - 112 + 60 + 71 = 19

    The next score update will be after Day 7's events (tomorrow) when 18 of our 24 Part 2 & 3 events will have been completed.

    Athletics Weekly give predictions in their online event previews. Finishing order 1-10 with times and distances.

    I make their current score -32 40 45 = 53

    Never bet. The house always wins

    I'm surprised we're not all in negative figures tbh

    I'd be doing better if we had been predicting British medals. I did expect we would have more finalists/top 6 finishes than we have and also pbs (not the same athletes). 9 of my 15 pb hopes have already disappointed ;(

    I was quite surprised that a number of posters went for large numbers of PBs. The global's dont usually produce ones PBs. Too much tension I think

    Kicking yourself is default setting in this compo.

    I am enjoying this even though every day my heart sinks as my choice athletes don't make finals. I even broke my cardinal rule and decided to follow someone on this forum's lead and put some money on Unibet, most of which I have lost! First and last time betting! I am expecting to go down the rankings as athletics progresses. Why did I suggest 16 PBs? Kicking myself.

    I'd be doing okay if it wasn't for those pesky Brits.

    'If you're lagging a bit, don't despair...' Can you clarify what you mean by 'a bit' lol, and, with 'points for the likes of Giles and Ugen haven't been deducted yet', both of whom I have finishing top 3, can you start wittling the wooden spoon.... (I knew I should have just cut and pasted Philipo's entry)

    Eugh... not a happy sight so far.

    Contest standings after day 4

    Eight of our 24 Part 2 & 3 events are complete.

    Clearly, so far, it's paid off being more conservative on predicting British Top 6 finishes as well as predicting the only Top 6 finish so far (in the 4x4 Mixed Relay).

    philipo has been able to buck that "formula" by being the top scorer on Part 3 with 69 points and the joint top scorer on Part 2 with 52 points.

    Only when tallying these scores did I notice that oxfan missed 4 events off Parts 2 & 3. Had I noticed at the time I would have made a post to alert oxfan to this. Someone did comment his/her post to that effect but, given that many people only check a thread when there's new posts, I am minded (at the end of the contest) to add to oxfan's score an average of his/her Part 2 & 3 scores for those 4 events to compensate for this. I hope other contestants think this fair. Yes, I know it's really up to each contestant to check their entries but I don't want oxfan to feel harshly done by.

    OK, onto the scores so far! The 3 numbers before the total represent, in order, your Part 1, 2 & 3 scores. Note that Part 1 scores only include those events that have been completed so, for example, points for the likes of Giles and Ugen haven't been deducted yet. (This is to avoid me double-counting).

    1 Walsh7 ... - 16 + 52 + 64 = 100
    2 Laps ... - 16 + 46 + 60 = 90
    3 LuckySpikes ... - 16 + 44 + 51 = 79
    4 philipo ... - 48 + 52 + 69 = 73
    5 Ladyloz ... - 32 + 46 + 54 = 68
    6= LoveSprints1 ... - 16 + 48 + 33 = 65
    6= MBChristie ... - 32 + 40 + 57 = 65
    8 Sovietvest ... - 32 + 44 + 45 = 57
    9 Jogger ... - 48 + 46 + 45 = 43
    10 Taffy2 ... - 48 + 46 + 42 = 40
    11= Occasional Hope ... - 32 + 32 + 38 = 38
    11= oxfan ... - 32 + 34 + 36 = 38
    13 marra ... - 80 + 48 + 66 = 34
    14 JamieSLA ... - 64 + 40 + 57 = 33
    15 Jnathletics ... - 48 + 34 + 37 = 23
    16 MysteryBrick ... - 80 + 38 + 50 = 8
    17 carterhatch ... - 80 + 34 + 46 = 0

    If you're lagging a bit, don't despair. There's still a long way to go!

    The next interim scores will be after Day 6 when 14 of the 24 Part 2 & 3 events will have been completed.

    So, to clarify re Dina's withdrawal from the 200 ...

    As stated in the opening post you won't lose points in Part 1 for a DNS.

    However, for Part 2, any predictions that include her will still stand as is.

    Yay!

    Well, there's newer been such a stressful few days before a Prediction Contest. I blame, in this order, Athletics Weekly, The Ethiopian Olympic Committee, my laptop for going on the blink, and athletes like Hassan & Miller-Uibo who can't confirm their plans in a timely manner!
