Enjoying these Modern Pentathlon events.

Cycling quite exciting too - as usual. Katy Marchant under a bit of pressure now after losing the first race in her Q/F in a close finish to Lee of Hong Kong.

Madison will be tough, there are some real Madison specialists in this race.

GB get a very brave silver in the Madison, heroic last minute effort to almost snatch gold, but just get silver. Was a very tough race, as I said, a lot of those guys were absolute Madison specialists.

Next thing to worry about - Brits coming up in the MP showjumping in about 5-10 mins.

Fine silver medal effort in an exciting Madison... GB will be happy this event has been restored to the Olympics !

No joy for Katy Marchant...nosed out again by Lee. After her bad luck in the Keirin I hoped she'd get something but the Hong Kong rider was a bit too fast.

On to the Horsey part of the MP ... crossing fingers for Choong after yesterday...

So not quite the ride Joseph Choong might have wanted. (Same horse Kate French rode yesterday - hope that is an omen ! ) But not a disaster anyway , he goes into the laser run in the lead , by twelve seconds.

Here's the startlist for the Laser Run. James Cooke is also only at 35 secs, which is well within his range.

Choong is Olympic champion in the men's modern pentathlon. That makes our 20th gold overall.

Massively improved his running capabilities. The Egyptian was superb though 13th to 2nd

Choong makes it a MP double for GB 😊

The young Egyptian gave him a good race but I always felt he had something in hand , as long as he didn't mess up that last shoot. Really good to watch , this event : the way the format works so that first across the line in the run is the winner makes for great viewing .

Yes - if they were to redo the combined events, finishing with that format would be better viewing, but it rules out records etc.

Paris 24 - Pentathlon will be a 90-minute comp, cutting people from 36 down to 8 only in the laser-run - not a fan of that idea!
