Yes I was aware of the other lady being a medal shot, but had Campbell down for 6th. Great that she massively stepped out. The drug scrutiny and bans is clearly levelling out the playing field.

So f*cking bbc.. they dont give a toss. They know full well with the streams from elsewhere and no Brits in either race they can do whatever and the studio mob are so uninteresting ; even MJ is not up to his usual excellence.
This constant channel switching is playing the devil with my arthritis😄

I didn't, though she was always in the conversation - I figured she would end up about 5th. She definitely outperformed her ranking coming into the Games.

I did have us down for a bronze in another weight catagory, where we ended up 4th.

Weightlifting has gone through a HUGE amount of change in terms of banning athletes/countries with absurd drugs records. It's meant that athletes from none powerhouse countries in the sport (like us) are starting to get a chance.

Hockey shoot-out between GB and Spain's women.

GB win. Maddy Hinch* is one hell of a goalkeeper. Will meet the Dutch in the semis.

*She had a 4th and a 5th place in the English Schools javelin in the 2000s by the way.

Wonder if GB will look back with a real sense of regret in the Women's Football after Canada knocked out the US

Honestly, I step away for 10 minutes and GBR get another 2 medals! Great stuff in the Eventing and fantastic by Campbell in the weightlifting.

It's possible that we could shift the team to bring Neah Evans in, true. I'm not convinced that it would necessarily make that much of a difference. Most teams run the same four a lot of races, GBR included. The bigger issue will be whether the Germanys recovery between rounds is as good. We know the GBR/USA have done that. We've not yet seen it from the Germans at this level.

That’s high risk though as you’re stuffed if one of the chosen 3’s having an off day.

The GB men who set the WR in London were all together until about half a lap from the end, presumably sharing the work more evenly, but the trend seems to have moved from that to burning one rider early.

Personally I’d prefer it if all riders had to finish and the time was taken from the 4th rider, or 3rd if crash / mechanical failure. On the subject of which, did you see the Aussie handlebar failure? Yeouch!
