All great runs of medals in all sports come to an end eventually as we survey our rowing events, but I reckon that applies throughout the worlds sporting nations. Was thinking that the Jamaican male sprinters are nowhere this year; rather taken the edge off the male sprint events for me.
What will unfold in the coming days in the velodrome will be very interesting for our GB cyclists and their contribution to the medal count.Comment

Just came on and saw 11 pages of posts! So I apologise if I am repeating themes already discussed at length.
I am LOVING both skateboarding and surfing (and am now also looking forward to the breakdancing in 2024!).
The swimming success has been joyous and watching Tom Dean's family and friends was nearly as exciting as the race!
Lutalo Muhammad is a broadcasting revelation - charismatic, insightful, phenomenal dissecting the Taekwando, which was also brilliant to watch.
I hate dressage but still get spellbound by the dancing horses (for a split second).
AND Simone Biles is a TRUE SUPERSTAR. It is so important that she has been transparent and open about her mental health battles on the biggest platform, and that she was still there for her teammates when it mattered despite how tough that must have been for her.
Final point. Every athlete who made an Olympic team is the best of the best in their nation at this point in time. To be there is a triumph, to make a final is outstanding and to medal is amazing. When we are cutting down athletes and teams, we need to bear in mind their achievement of just making the team. Of course, all of them want more, but there can only ever be three on the podium.
Hope athletics lives up to the billing!Last edited by LoveSprints1; 28-07-21, 09:57.👍 3Comment

Lots of events to enjoy - the advent of streaming has been a boon to an Olympic junkie like me because you don't have to put up with TV stations showing masses of replays / talks with home winners/home winners families etc - and can pick up on virtually anything you want to watch...
Bit of a dodgy day for GB : if it was "Magic Monday" and "Terrific Tuesday" I reckon this goes down as "Wobbly Wednesday" 😊 Disappointing rowing , promising tennis and badminton pairs falling ... and now the rugby sevens making a bit of a mess of their bronze medal shot - to say nothing of the divers having a bit of a 'mare. Boxers are looking good though...
Aussies are very understandably happy with success in pool and rowing . Three golds for the day is up with their best ever. And Ariane Titmus is on the way to becoming a sporting legend.
Simone Biles withdrawal making big news. Just shows how much even superstars can be vulnerable to the stresses of top level sport : good for her for being upfront with her issues 👍
Swimming heats next : wonder if GB can keep the good work in the pool going ? That relay gold makes up for a lot of other not so great moments ...Comment

Broady out to end the interest in the tennis, and the rugby guys lose their bronze match.

Eurosport again has dedicated apparatus streams for the men's all round final at 1115. I won't aggravate myself by watching BBC, as they probably won't show Joe Fraser even though he's in the top group!
Apologies if anyone has mentioned this before - haven't read previous posts as I don't know result of Men's 4 x 200 freestyle! Spoiler lolComment

fiji have won the olympic sevens twice and the rugby world cup sevens twice, they have never finished below fifth place in the world cup, its not a shock gold, its a toss up between them and new zeland for top rugby sevens country of all timeComment

wow, impressive, I only have BBC, who are showing gymnastics and a table tennis match (between China and Hong Kong). It is very frustrating that the Beeb can not be bothered to show the heats live.... -
Yeah, I've been hearing a lot of bad stuff about the Beeb's coverage. I believe you can get Eurosport for around 7 quid and get all their coverage though. NBC's main coverage is pretty poor but they use the OBS for all their streams which is much better. This is my first games living over here and it's been more enjoyable a watch than I was expecting!
