I lurk on that forum but it really is comprehensive if you want to follow week in -week out British players.

  • Wow... now that is sport at its finest ... Argentina beat South Africa in the rugby 7s ... the Argies finish with 5 men but manage to hold on for the victory !

    • How the heck did Argentina do THAT in the rugby 7's?!?! Spent most of the match with 6 men, but scored 3 tries while undermanned, then in the closing stages were down to FIVE men... and still managed to win!

but mostly hampered by their Execs who don't understand sport and seem to think the viewer wants chat and "stories" with the inconvenient unpredictable sport bit packaged in neat chunks, mostly replays.

      • We all know where that idiocy comes from. USA where the story is all important not the performance.. The swimming presenters are some of the worse ever and the commentators constantly talk juvenile arentifunny babble. You all know how it works with the bbc; once your foot is in the door you tend to be there forever.
Are we to suffer Jackson for example.

              • Virtually not shown on either BBC OR Eurosport, but GB's women's artistic gymnastic team have just won a bronze medal! That's the first time a women's gymnastic's team from these shores have won in the team event since the Amsterdam Summer Olympics in 1928!

I still can't get over women's gym finals without romania - so good for so long!

Agreed re Gymnastics. I actually thought I had dozed (knackered due to nocturnal viewing) and missed GB's fantastic achievement. It came as a big surprise. But apparently nobody else saw it unfolding either! Hopefully I can now see all of GB's performances as I'm now watching Eurosport which has a dedicated catchup for each apparatus.

              • Wow didn't think the british team had a hope of a medal especially without Becky!

Absolutely no chance before these Olympics. And even after they qualified for the team event a couple of days ago, they were expected, at best, to get maybe 6th place... 5th if they were inspired. Indeed, after the first 2 rotations, GB were in 7th place! AND they were faced with what was supposed to be one of their weakest apparatus in the uneven bars as their final one to tackle. Apparently though, they nailed the vault and uneven bars, registering some of the highest combined scores of any of the finalists! Italy, who had been 3rd for virtually the whole competition, folded badly on the beam and finished 4th.

Yes and no real disasters on beam - for years that felt like a hoodoo for us

                • The Gadirola twins will be the new British stars of these Games, I'm calling it right now.

Very much enjoying that their parents are Azerbaijani immigrants - bloody foreigners, coming over here and winning us historic Olympic medals...

Ha... I resolved not to watch her bronze medal bout , having seen three last kick defeats over the last couple of days... Removing my hex seems to have worked 😊

She might so easily have been fighting for gold ; but at least she has a medal - well done her 👍

There are some sports that I don't ever engage with normally but really enjoy at the Olympics. Dressage is very much not one of them...
